Started with a chopped Sears mini-bike. A Honda 90 Trail broke my collarbone on a badly done jump, then there was the Honda 305 Scrambler (loved that bike), a 650 Triumph I bought for a hunnerd bucks and a sheath knife. She was the first 'Bike in a Box' I built. No frame so I found one and made her a sweet, rigid chop. Right-foot shift, left-foot brake and a 12" over girder front end. Then the 750 Triumph chop another 'Bike in a Box', rigid frame with pull-backs and a 14" over Glide front end.

I graduated to a Harley when I bought a 57/67 Pan/Shovel... Bliss! Aman Saviour Frame with 5 degree rake neck, 14" over (homemade) springer and as fast as I've ever gone on a motorcycle... 127 mph (radar, but that's another story). To all,

Had an afternoon ride/dinner with a group of guys and one told me he is planning a trip to the US in June.  Young guy mid to late 20s, speaks pretty good English, is (as most young Europeans) enamored with the image of Harleys and life in the US.  He's planned the trip out pretty meticulously and sent me a copy of the itinerary in Portuguese.  His goal is to holiday in the US every few years visiting a different part of the country each time but it is possible with age, wife, kids, economy, etc this could be his only chance to see the USA so he's trying to cram as much as possible into the trip.

Since my only real experience with California and west of Texas consists of 2 months of basic training at Ft. Ord back in '72 (still have nightmares about eating ice plants low crawling through the sand), what I'd appreciate is having him come to this site and over the next few months you guys living in the areas where...    less

well Edge you've hit the nail on the head, yet again..On my 2 trips to the States I could afford a Triumph and on the 2nd the deal of the century for a Kawasaki cruiser..I ride a Harley down home..and have had 3 now all EVO's..cause So far I haven't felt the need for speed. My next will probably be another EVO but in the flh style..mainly as i can work on them myself. Presently to meet my own agenda I'm bringing back to life 2 Kawasaki's a z750 and a z 1000mk2....both should enable me to get what I require for my next bike..one that the cheese and I aren't so squeezy on.. Riding the states I found out on the Hwy's that you wave and usually more often than not someone going the opposite way with wave back..So in essence" Yes "no one cares what you ride..as long as you do....You wanna cause a shit stir..bike fire your bike on purpose at a gas station full of Sons...like i did at Murdo in SD. Guys reached into jackets others ducked for cover....and I along with the lot roared with laughter...once they calmed down.

Ok, I have this 95 badboy springer, being down here in Australia it was first rego'd 96...so as far as Australia goes its a 96 badboy springer..I've just wound the speedo over 100K which is totally wrong cause i fried the drive gear and couldn't get it replaced for a few months and in that time I rode lots of kilometres..for those who don't know a Km is shorter than a mile...like 100,000 km is only 60,000 miles...So my bike doesn't really have that much on it..I guess to that I don't ride as much as i used to, last year I blew the head gaskets off it... so i had it honed and new rings put in, base gaskets and head gaskets...and have started the process again..Problem is its a 1340 and everyone else I know barring one guy who owns a shovel, owns bigger capacity engines. So I get left behind on runs..unless we hit some tight bends where I show em who's whom... The wife likes to go on the bike sometimes..but the problem now is we are both bigger than we were...(fatter) and we touch almost at all points...my back to her front...sometimes the closeness is fine..at other times the fact of our bodies touching constantly makes us both sweat....which I guess gets uncomfy especially after a few hours in the saddle. She wants a roadking or an FLH standard..I wouldn't mind one either....but finances don't allow...for a newer to me bike at present. Plus with all the newer models mine isn't worth selling even though its a badboy...only made em for 12 months 3 different models each a different paint job...magenta (mine) yellow and blue...So they do actually hold their value better than other bikes of the same vintage..My son wants me to keep it from a nostalgia point of view..He grew up with it...and will give me 10 k for it..when ever he saves it...which is likely to be never...I've already owned his bike..as he stopped payments on it...and the bank hauled me in for cosigning his loan ..made me pay up..So I sold it for what he owed and started a fight... So thats my dilemma what do i do...I got trips i wanna do...my ride still goes great but its basically only a single rider bike...even my new progressives are feeling the pinch when the missus climbs aboard...cause we so bottom out alot..lol...can't be me..cause it never happens when I'm solo... Oh and one more thing....she don't ride never has and never wants too..so getting her a cheap jappa isn't even an option. I have a couple of Jappas in the shed being rebuilt....vintage models now (30 years old) .....which should bring in some bucks either that  or i 'll keep em..cause they go like a shower o shit in a straight line...although cornering on em is an adventure in peril...well thanks for reading if you got this far....opinions are welcome...
