Got the bike up and going and well the boyfriend is no longer in the picture (left way before the bike was ready). So took it out on the side roads -- nervous as can be (found out that isn't cool on handleing the bike so had to keep telling myself to relax -- helped until got into s bit of traffic). A person I met took me to the school to practice and was totally different and more relaxed. Problem is I don't have that opportunity very often so it's on my own basically. YES I will be doing the riders safety course WHEN I can afford to but right now out of the picture.

So how did you learn on your own and not be so scared of everything?!?!  less

Dudley my cat's day usually consist of running through the house like a herd of Horses, sleeping on top of his cat tree, or playing with his cat nip ball, but yesterday was a different day for the both of us.
I woke up yesterday sick as hell with a bug of some sort, and couldn't get off the couch all day. After about 2 hours on the couch I noticed Dudley would either lay on a foot stool right next to the couch, get on the back of the couch, or then every once in a while he would jump up on me to see if I was still alive I guess, but Dudley NEVER left my side all day long. As crazy as it sounds my little buddy seemed to be concerned about me, and just would not leave my side. How do animals know these things, about the people they spend time around.
Maybe if humans could maintain this kind of bond there would be less divorces, and a better quality of life for us all.

    Just wondering

Now I'm taking the big leap from the bike I learned to ride on (Kawasaki 250) to my 1100.  We're planning on going out and practicing on parking lots starting tomorrow and continuing until I'm comfortable enough to get on the road.  From there I'll probably take another rider's course that will help me fine-tune some things.  Michael (the bf) thinks I'll get it in no time.  I feel like it's a bit of a challenge, but do-able. Still, just like taking the MSP I'm a bit nervous, wondering if I'm taking on too much.
So----my question is do any of you ride a larger bike and what were your...    less

Skipping this year, been the last 3 years. If tent camping, I would try and go past the stage/vendor area and set up under the tree's. You would have shade and the river is right there and you are still close. 2nd best would be to turn left in the middle section of tree's between the 2 big area's and follow it to the end to the clear cut. From there you just hop the gully and you are at the vendors and the stage. You will see what I mean when you get there.

in the topic How far will you travel in the forum Biker Chat
So much depends on the trip and what you are after. Last year we went to upstate N.Y and only had 3 days to get there, so it was 3 - 1k days, back to back. But that gave us time on the way back to relax and follow the sun. If it was cloudy one way, we went the other. if we went 200 miles, so be it, if we sent 400, that was OK also. Most days, if we are just traveling, we will average 50-55 mph and go until we feel tired and find the nearest place to stay the night. No itinerary and no pressures. as far as the 700 miles, that would be interstate travel and 11 hours

I have talked to quite a few long distance riders. (600-1000 a day) and a LOT of them go for the beaded seat covers. Cooler by allowing air through, massages the butt for increased blood circulation and some of them have had the same cover for three or four bikes. Fairly inexpensive too.

You need to have a talk with your friend and let her know how you feel and tell her your friendship is in jeopardy if she can't lighten up. You have the right to do as you wish and is she doesn't approve, she needs to stay away, or keep her mouth shut. You are who you surround yourself with. Do you want to be like her? I don't think so. Live life and have fun and if someone tries to suppress you, dump them. It's your life.
