I Got on the bike, rode until I was good and lost after about three hours then started to find my way back home. I met some nice folks, saw parts of the State I've never seen before, ate my fill and took my time about all of it.

Rode from Florida up to Kentucky for a family reunion. Then rode across the state to Mammoth Caves and Cumberland Falls before heading back home through the Cherohala Skyway. After that, we took 129 south through part of the Gauntlet in North Georgia before heading on back to Florida.
Nope. We didn't do the Tail of the Dragon this year because we were pulling a trailer with the bike and I wasn't going to go through the Dragon with a trailer .. too dangerous. Maybe next time I can convince the wife to pack lighter and leave the trailer at home .. or park the trailer somewhere before attempting the Dragon run.

The assistant chief lost his Marine son in Afganistan a few years ago. Then the group 76 bikes headed to Provincetown MA .

I rode my Road Glide from St. Louis, Missouri to Lake City, Arkansas to visit with relatives that converged on my Aunt's house. I stopped to see if a fellow biker needed help as he was on the side of the highway and he said no thanks. He had lost his hat and was going back to get it. You don't have to wear a helmet in Arkansas.

Had to go over to Albuquerque for a wedding on Saturday so I decided to take Friday off and run over on the bike. Took the back roads and had a great 10 hour ride, but it was hotter than hell. Imagine that, being hot between Tucson, AZ and albuquerque, NM :-)

Wedding was great and got to see some old friends who I got totally drunk with on Saturday night. Riding back across the desert on Sunday with a hangover REALLY sucked big time!

Since we have been pretty much home bound for the entire summer we decided to take our son on a min-vacation down to San Diego.  Laura and I go to San Diego a lot on the bike, but we have never really done the tourist stuff down there, so we did.  We saw all of the beaches, went over to Coronado Island (just to drive over the bridge), had dinner at an authentic Mexican restaurant in Old Town, breakfast on the water at Seaport Village, spent a couple hours touring the USS Midway Museum and took a cool tour on a bus/boat - its an amphibious vehicle that takes you on a tour of the city then the bay.

It was a short trip but it was great family time!!!

I did a lot and got a whole lot done this weekend...

Saturday I cleaned the garage... and I really cleaned it.  Filled up all the trash cans and still have more trash for next week.  I can finally work on my work bench and PLAY DARTS in the garage again.

Sunday we went to visit some friends in L.A.  We were BBQ'n and hanging at the pool when we noticed a guy that looked like Donovan McNabb... well it turned out it was and he has an apt there because he is now doing a show on Fox Sports which is right down the street.  His wife and kids were out visiting and they were great people.

Sunday night we went to the Improv to see Jim Jeffries.  That guy is friggin hilarious... quite crude, but really funny.

Monday we had a family BBQ and my daughter came buy with my youngest grand daughter.  She is 7 months now and can sit up.  Just a little while longer and she will be fun :-)

Saturday we went to the Downed Biker Rally put on by the Bikers for Christ here in Orange County.  We were happy to see a good turnout to help these guys raise lots of money to help Injured Bikers throughout the year.

Sunday was a family picnic and we finally got a picture of the entire family... Laura, me, 4 kids and their 2 spouses, and 3 grand kids!!!

Saturday we went to Russ' 50th Birthday party. (Russ of BikerCrap.com fame :-)  Saw some old friends and met lots of new ones and had a great time!!!

Sunday Laura headed up to Venice Beach to hang out with a friend and I was sitting at home trying to find something for me and Riley (my 17 year old) to do when I realized I had never taken him out to shoot hand guns.  I am not really a big fan of indoor ranges - I prefer cans and bottle targets out in the desert - but since they keep building more and more houses, places to shoot are getting farther and farther away.  So we headed down to the local indoor range and I had him shoot the 9mm glock and the Ruger 357.  I must say I was pretty impressed that after only 20 rounds or so he could shoot all head shots at 25 feet with the revolver and not to bad with the auto.   Next time we'll let him shoot the 44 magnum!

Good for you and your boy. We got lots of places to free shoot down here. Not so much in the Houston area, but you don't have to drive too far.

I hope you went over all the gun safety stuff with your boy first.
