This is the granddaughters new ride for Christmas. Working lights, horn, sounds. Screams along at a blazin' 2-3 mph when batt is fully charged. She always wants on the real thing, so I thought I would get her her own.

What does everyone here do for a living?  Are you retired?  Disabled?  Independantly wealthy?

Kind of nice to know what kind of "network" we have around here, especially during meets and greets or runs.

I'm a nurse, my background is in psychiatry, corrections, addictions, and Hospice (I'm a former prison nurse) and I'm currently working in a rural emergency room/floor setting that I truly enjoy.  My first love is Hospice and that's a very long story.  I've also been a locksmith, bartender, stripper (screw that "exotic dancer" or "entertainer" stuff, there's a pole, a stage, you're taking you're clothes off, you're a stripper... easy as that, lol!), bar owner, and secretary for a lawyer.  Since our hospital only works us 3 days a week (we work we 12 1/2 hour shifts), I've been thinking of going back to Hospice part time or as needed.

Most recently I am enjoying being a mom and studying to be a vet assistant. I LOVE LOVE LOVE animals in general but most specifically dogs and even more specifically the American Pit Bull Terrier. I do my best to help with placing abused/neglected/abandoned dogs in new homes, I've been a foster mom, and I've also done transports. I also tend to get in the faces of pet shop/puppy millers/puppy brokers who sell badly bred pups full of health issues to ignorant people. Pisses me off and I have been known to call them on it. Walmart nearlu banned me for calling them REPEATEDLY on the way they keep their fish (esp. bettas since I used to breed them) in tiny dirty tanks. I'd say I have too much time on my hands but it's difficult to find jobs in this part of Ohio though so I'm happy we're moving to AZ where we'll have a few more opportunities.

in the topic Ladies Who Do You Ride With ? in the forum Lady Bikers
There's quite a few ladies who I've seen riding their own bike in my area. I was going to get my own bike this year with my half of the tax return but then we made the decision to move to AZ in March of 2011 and we figured it's gonna be hard enough to fit his bike in the trailer so I'm gonna wait until we settle in up there. I want to make more biker lady friends but I feel like they look down on me because I ride backseat to my hubby.

He forgets to mention he wasted nearly an entire week of paid vacation because we couldn't go anywhere (and I had such an exciting week planned too!) in a van that was overheating. And I had silently thought to myself, I wonder if the power steering belt had anything to do with the problems it was suddenly having. I even bit my dad's head off the morning after the show because he said Nate probably messed something up himself and I was insistent that my dh knew what he was doing =D

Hey, re-read my last post...I'm not saying I don't like you Loner, it's just I don't like you the same way I like Hawk seeing as he's my husband and all :) I concur, nothing against you personally, just don't agree with some of your points.

I like him well enough! Hawk that is, not Loner. As for being a biker or not a biker. Who gives a crap? I like riding on the back of a Honda just fine and I've never proclaimed to be something I'm not. Nor have I ever tried to tell others what they are or aren't. That's between you and yourself. Why you would feel the need to tell others what or who they are based on your own concepts is WAY beyond me.

in the topic Smoke Anyone ? in the forum Off Topic
I don't ever tell my smoker friends to not smoke (well there was a couple times I did because they were pregnant and I just couldn't keep my mouth shut) even though it is an instant trigger for a 2-day migraine for me but I do try to avoid being near them in closed quarters if they are smoking. I'm not sure how I'd react if someone was smoking in my baby's face though. Hasn't happened yet, I don't think I've met anyone that rude.

No matter what punishment the driver gets for his stupidity and carelessness, it'll never be enough to account for what he did. He murdered 3 people and destroyed countless lives with his neglience. Let's just hope and pray that the 6 that are still fighting will win their fights.

I can"t take credit for the ones pictured! Those were done by master henna artist Catherine Cartwright-Jones, awesome but always busy lady. Check out her work here: http://reverndbunny.sphosting.com/gallery.htm Henna isn't for everyone but I love it! You can keep it simple or make it highly intense and complicated. Then in 1-3 weeks it fades and you can start over with a new design. Like a constantly renewing canvas :)

I never thought about the Maxim 650 after we let her go...maybe he'd be willing to give her back for the right price. Anyhoo, you all have made me feel much better about the whole thing. I honestly never thought I'd be comfortable riding (though I was always willing to try it for him) on the back seat but now I'm so used to it I could sleep back there. I definitely zone out! We'll have to work on that in my safety classes LOL.

We just sold our Yamaha Virago 1000. Come to think of it, I could roll that thing around the garage pretty easily...hmm maybe a Virago would be the way to go.

in the topic Ladies, what do you do when you're too short!!? in the forum Lady Bikers
My quest for a bike short enough to fit me but strong enough to keep up with my fellow riders has come to a standstill. My hubby tried to make several adjustments to his Honda Hawk 400 so I could reach the ground flat-footed when riding but nothing worked. Seems like the only thing that would work would be unreversible things like cutting it up and making it into a chopper lol. Right now my plan is to just take the motorcycle safety course this spring/early summer, get my license to ride, and wait for the perfect bike to find me. Because I am having no luck finding her. I'm only 5 ft, 5'1ft if I cheat with taller boots so I need to find something SHORT lol. I'm going to be very dissapointed if the safety course (they provide the bikes to train on) I want to take doesn't have any bikes that will fit me. Guess I'm just feeling like the odd lady out lately. Any other vertically challenged folks out there??

No traditional tattoos for me. My twin sister and I do henna, a traditional Indian art, every summer. We henna eachother, friends, etc., as soon as the weather heats up because the pastes we use stain deeper and better when exposed to heat. This makes henna popular in beachtown boardwalks so most of you that live in warm cities have probably heard of/seen it before. Anyhoo, here's some that I had over the summer:

I've got about 15-20lbs to go before I'm where I'd like to be. I've lost about 21lbs since I had the baby 5 months ago though!
