Nobody? How bout a NEW TO YOU bike?
  • February 15, 2012 7:47 AM PST
My latest acquisition is neither new, nor new to me...but I'll give ya some bike porn anyway.

Recently, my Dad gave me his '99 evo...FXSTC. It's been in my garage since the day he bought it, and during an 8 month period when I was without a bike of my own, I put about 15,000 miles on it.

I need to get a better pic of it...

My next acquisition will most likely be a 2011 Triumph Thunderbird Storm...

I did help a friend pick up a new MV Augusta a couple weeks ago. Took that for a ride around the block.

    SAWWWWEEEET!

I've noticed that the recession has squelched most of the technology upgrades and designs lately. Honda did produce the VFR V4 1200. There are a few exceptions, and Triumph has been coming on strong with new models, but there seem to be few new models and designs recently.

But then, ABS brakes and traction control are a big plus.

I wanted to wait but here it is, gettin black typhoon wheels on Saturday so I will have to update, really set his bike off.  Thinking I will go black with exhaust and intake.   Gotta get a different seat, GF already don't like the p pad.

If you get a new seat, then you'll have to get a new padded sissy bar too

Got it just in time for Christmas and now has 1700 miles on it. Not too bad for middle of winter.
2012 Cross Country Tourer. It will have  somewhere between 60 and 80k miles on it before the 3 year warranty expires.
Not too many mods yet, but lots of things on the wish list.

My next addition will be a new set of cams, I'm considering the S&S easy starts or the new Harley 259E cams also going to add the Terry Components Terminal Velocity III fuel management system! Oh sure I could do head work and a few other things but I figure if I get the spacer to turn my lifters into a solid lift and move away from the hydraulic bounce that should be plenty of power! The only other consideration would be a set of 11:1 pistons but I don't really want to get into the top end this early on my new ride... I'm sure changing the cams will be all I need for now! :-)

I need advice on pipes, I want to hear it but not obnoxiously loud, love some of your "expert" advice, what to do first and what not to do etc.  I plan on getting everything done before the red river run in may.  Never had a new harley, hell actually only owned one new bike and that was '83.  wish i still had it!

Don't know about padded but I want a tall sissy bar, what happened to those like we had 30 years ago.  you could tie everything to them and those huge sleeping bags we had, oops i still got one.......

Is your girfriend more of a "hard tail" or a "softail"? The reason I ask, is so you consider this:
If you don't pad the seat on your bike, your girl might decide to pad her OWN seat!

    Tee hee hee!

  • February 16, 2012 2:42 PM PST
I've learned that the best seat you can obtain is always best. That way you don't have to stop and "fluff your butt out" as often.
