Have you ever been scared, I mean really scared when riding? It happened to me yesterday for the first time. The weather report for Moab was ...
    W I  N   D   Y    !

Predicted gusts to 65mph, sustained winds from 35 to 45mph. In the early morning I went to town on Rex to photograph an Art-Car parade. It was a bit blustery but manageable. After the parade was over I pointed Rex north towards Roz, our RV.

There is a canyon that we pass through and I want to say WOW, (expletive deleted), WOW! The gusty winds there were switching directions instantly and randomly. Now this old biker has some miles in the saddle but this was, to greatly understate, a bit exciting. The point that scared me was after coming out of a sweeping turn, with Rex straight and verticle, running 65mph, we suddenly moved about a foot to the left. I do not mean we were pushed to the left with a hard gust, I mean the bike got real light and instantly was relocated. It felt as if we were lifted...    less

Since getting back into riding, and associating with more people who also ride, I've found myself asking this question more and more...  What exactly is the definition of the real biker?
Some will say it's anyone who has the drive and desire to ride, and loves the feeling of the open road.  Others will disagree, claiming that you have to ride for a cause, own a certain brand of bike, dress a certain way, etc.
I've met both, and quite frankly, the ones who consider themselves the "real", "hardcore" bikers are most the time the biggest poseurs on the planet.
Allow me to embellish a bit...
This past weekend, I decided to attend one of many "ride for a cause" rides, only because I felt a little bit of a connection to the cause involved, and thought I should do my part to at least make an appearance and donate a little money....    less

Thought it was about time for a new game.  Saw this on another site I visit and it looked like fun.

List a city that starts with the next letter in the alphabet.  When we get to "Z" we start back at "A".

The city can be in any country.  If it is in the US just list the City & State, if it is in another country list the City & Country.

    Ok, I'll start with...

    Assawomen, VA      (yes it's real)

It was freezing cold upper 50s had to wear long sleeves. rode up SC Hwy 41 to 402, turned on Copperhead Rd, then Alligator Rd did about a 60mile loop stopped at Huger Park (pronounced HUE GEE) All this is in the Francis Marion Forest. Great back road riding lots of nice scenery camping hiking trails  and best of all it's close to my house.

I passed a vehicle in the middle of no-where, dude got on my ass, I went faster and he stayed on my ass. I was scared to slow down. I've heard carry pocket full of bearings, but didn't have any that day, or any day for that matter. I was scared. He will get his.

I'm a biker, I dream of sunny perfect days.  Don't confuse me with a gang member, I prefer riding my 49cc 100mpg Honda twist and go.  I wish it had ape hangers, 30 something degree rake, with a tall sissy bar and a hardtail.  I love checking out everyone elses bikes too.  I find it weird how people get upset at me checking out their rides.  I don't mean touching them, just admiring all their little add ons, or straight up modifications.  I get the leave my bike alone thing, don't touch it, but when I see a bike I get sucked into a dream like state.  Goo goo gaa ga, can't help it.  Guess I'm a freak too.

Well how many times have you heard the song smoking in the boys room? You know what triggers are? You know how the media brain washes? You repeat something over and over, either audio, visual, or written. Watch those triggers, turn them off. Good luck. Friday's music has the most commercials in the songs, they're subliminal, but they're there. Drinking and a smoking triggers. They know the weakness of a consumer.
