Had a blast. hung out in the pits talked to a lot of riders. One he took the time to go into detail on how the clutches work on those bikes and how to adjust them. It's not even close to a regular clutch. I'm not the guy that takes lots of pics. I probably took 20 total from Friday through Sunday and 1 video. That video turned out to be a once in a lifetime video. I was up close to video a nitro bike firing up right before he lined up to race. When it fired it BLEW UP!!! it was loud and I've been around nitro cars and bikes this was loud. everybody in the stands heard it all the people in the pits came running. I'm the only one that had it on video. All of a sudden I'm everybody's friend. I edited it to full speed 1/2 and 1/4 speed then still shots and posted it on FaceBook then the guy messaged me and said it bothered him to see it and ask me to take it down. He's upset and...    less

I found 80 acres in Uwharrie National park (google it) in the middle of NC. hiking fishing off road trails bicycling horseback and some great roads to ride long curvy minimum traffic and easy to find and access. Plenty of room to put campers and cabins. I also found 50 acres in the Blue Ridge of NC it's close to several water falls. To small for a RV park hard to find and access but nice for a bikes and sport cars retreat. I started looking at it and it has a couple roads that make the Dragon look like a beginners road. The pic shows a couple routes to water falls and the Dragon all in the same scale for comparison.   All I need is to decide and come up with a lot of money. The smaller one in the mountains would be seasonal the larger one could be year round. The mountains the top left map is less than 50 miles and rated at 1hr 45 min to travel do the math. I'm leaning towards the Uwharrie because it has more to offer to more people but the Mountains sure look fun  less

So I through if I wrote down some of the differences between "Growing Up" and "Grown Up" in sort of a light hearted way maybe I can learn to just chill out and accept things better. I guess laughing at ones self is better than bitiching.

Growing up: You start life completely relying on your parents
Grown Up: You end up relying on your Children...scarry

Growing Up: You can't wait to get a car with a floor shift
Grown Up: Pushing in a clutch is just wasted effort

Growing Up: You're applying for a College Student Loan
Grown Up: Your applying for Social Security Benifits

Growing Up: You're never without a comb in your back pocket
Grown Up: No Problem I have plenty of hat's..who needs a comb

Growing Up: You freak out on a date when you relize your down to your last Prophylactic

On May 27, the public got a chance to see and try out the prototype. What was it like, riding in the Google self-driving car?

Two people got in the prototype, buckled up, and used a smartphone app (or pretended to) to tell the car where they wanted to go.

The Google car has no steering wheel, no brake pedal, no accelerator, no park-forward-reverse — so the two passengers knew immediately they would ride in the car, not drive it.

One of them pushed the “start” button, and the car took them to the street address they gave it. When they arrived at their destination, the car turned itself off — or the passengers pressed the “stop” button — and the trip was over.

The takeaway? Here’s one: The Google self-driving car will take you to work — but if you want to stop for donuts on the way, you’ll have to instruct the car through your smartphone to pause on its trip to your office — then begin a new trip into the donut shop...    less

I've got a 99 Softail and the other night my front brake lever fell off (while I was riding), made for an interesting stop when I went to go reach for it and it wasn't there.. I ended up finding it on the road, road the bike home and now my brake lights won't work. The switch in the grip behind the lever, the plunger moves in and out fine but the brake light won't engage. The rear pedal won't engage it either. I replaced the bulb, tested the wires under the seat and my test light lit up, tested the rear area where the bulb goes, it's ok.. Anyone have any ideas? Is it the switch where the wires run into near the exhaust or the frt. switch, I have no clue what to test next.. I know some people have had bad bulbs but I know mine are ok, the lights worked the night I took it out as well, I don't know if the lever falling off has anything to do with this issue..  less

here's a couple pics of the chain guard
  • June 1, 2014 8:17 AM PDT
in the topic rear Sprocket and other things in the forum Harley Davidson
Well soon I'll need to be changing tires. so while i have to pull them off i may as well change rotors, bearings, chain and sprockets. I've been wanting to change my ratio because I have to much low end and want to lower my RPMs at cruising. I have no problem and plenty of power at 25mph in 5th gear. So I'd like to drop the rear sprocket from a 48t to a 47-46 and raise the front from 22 to 24. here's the problem, I have a stock enclosed chain guard. Very unique chain system if you've never seen one. It totally encases the chain and sprockets (secondary) with seals and even a drain plug and uses the engine oil from the oil pump to lube the chain. To find one is rare because most throw it away because of the trouble to work on both the tire and chain. so looking the stock pt# I see that it uses a different rear sprocket than the other models of my year 83 and it's 5x the price of the other models , according to the price list but not available any more and it has a different pt#. I looked up the info at Ronnie's great parts breakdown and part #s  http://partsfinder.onlinemicrofiche.com/ronnies/showmodel.asp?make=hdmc. I like changing chain and sprockets as a set. I've looked online and i see sprockets that they say will fit my bike but it matches the other FXR pt# and not mine. to make it worse a couple have a note  it will not fit my bike. So I'm not sure what to think but I feel it's not going to be easy to find a new rear sprocket for an 83 FXRT (FLTHC will fit also) I could easily and cheaply get rid of the chain guard and go to the other style, but it's so cool to hear guys say "look he still has the chain guard" Next thing I've seen this on other forums Wheel bearings. If I remove the wheel on a bike or hubs on a car and the bearings are more than a yr old i just replace them. It's to cheap not to! I've seen guys say I took them to the dealer and he checked them and said they're good. WTH? that cost more than new bearings. Or if they're good put them back because new ones could be defective. Bearings are like piston rings, though they're good you never install old rings after pulling them out or changing their postion. bearings wear in (break in) just like rings and as soon as you change the wear pattern they wear out faster. Really? How often do you remove your wheel? Bearings are cheap and easy. that's no time to be stingy. Rotors I don't buy the high$$$ high performance stuff any more. All my vehicles I start off easy and stop easy. Going full speed from stop light to stop light or fly up and slam on brakes when you know 500-1000ft away you will be stopping just wears out EVERYTHING and increases your chance of an accident. So while I have my wheels off i'm going to replace the rotors. Pads well you could cheapen out and use the old ones if they're ok since they are easy to change without removing the wheel but I recomend new ones they're cheap enough too

Once engaged a clutch doesn't slip no matter the "drag" Unless it faulty. the only time drag effects a clutch is starting off. Then the weight and resistance wear a clutch. Once cruising drag effects the motor causing it to run hot and or burn up, it also plays hell on trannys wearing them out, but mot the clutch. Anybody that has sized wheels on a boat knows very well how drag effects an engine. Nor are these types of clutches "safety clutches" designed to slip under drag like a PTO clutch on a tractor bush hog. The HD dealer has no clue how engines work to make an outragous claim as that. Clutches wear out or break because of improper install, adjustment, improper usage, old age, or defective. If the flags were causing that much drag it would not have been starting or getting to cruising speed so they would have wore the tranny or burned up the motor but not the clutch
