Needing Advice

On a recent ride, I "picked up" something off the road. Whatever it was, stuck and burned to the chrome heat shield... Any suggestions on what I can do to get it off?

When its totally cold, take a penny (copper is softer than chrome) and gently work away at it. The last little bits you might get off with goo-gone (or any citrus based solvent).

Thanks, I'll give that a try!

Just go easy. The copper won't scratch  unless you get impatient and push too hard. Try to keep the preasure on the goo not the chrome. It has always worked for me. Good luck

I have found that heating the pipes up and using oven cleaner works pretty well for getting burnt stuff.

Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK) will soften almost any organic material, including paint + gives you a real good buzz
Popsicle sticks or tongue depressors do not scratch

Goof Off works on a lot of stuff with super fine steel wool... Haven't tried the oven cleaner thing, but sounds like that would work.
