only caught some of on radio but Ireland done pretty well we got 4 medals in the boxing and one in horsejumping...thats the trouble here, we'd rather fight than run and if we do run its usually on a horse !

On the same topic, but a different note,, Jetman, i can forgive ye a lot, 800 years of oppression....famine....rape...plunder (nice word that) destruction, and God alone only knows how much more.......................but, the olympics closing ceremony !!!!!!!! THE FECKEN SPICE GIRLS!,,, that my friend is just a step too far, it go's beyond the bounds of human decency to inflict that shower on the world...the only thing I ever admired Beckham for was, having the courage to take on that clown Viktoria and breaking up the spice girls....;and now in its infinite wisdom, the British olympics have decided to bring them back, I believe theU.N is making a formal complaint....and failing that it wants to impose economic sanctions on the UK for breaches of human rights................

Well I'm pretty proud of all the US athletes, they did well. And your right Lucky, Missy is definitely Americas sweetheart this Olympics and I hope she is back in 2016!

Rory, you got that right... won't be watching the closing ceremonies this year except for when the US Team comes in!

I would say this has been a pretty good showing for all the US Athletes and Teams

The 31 Swimming Medals is GREAT, even though kind of expected.  But just as impressive is our improvement in Trak & Field 29 Medals there I think is more than anyone thought we would get.

And don't forget to add one more for Men's Basketball that is starting right now!!!

I'm surprised the games didn't feature Olympic plowing. Afterall, it was the UK that invented section farming. Jethro Tull and his horse drawn seed drill.

    Peace

    Well it's all over

Once again I have a great time watching ALL of the Olympics, even stuff I don't normally see and know nothing about ... like rowing.

Yes the Americans did great and made us proud, but Congrats to all of the athletes from around the world who came out and did their absolute best.

We are pretty far behind here on the west coast of the US, so even though the closing ceremonies are over, we are still watching the end of the final marathon.

Probably not going to watch the closing ceremonies (wonder why???), except for the part where the show the athletes celebrating!

And yep Jetman you can have you city back. We certainly appreciate you and all your neighbors having us for a couple of weeks !!!!!

    Rory wins  - again

Didn't watch the Olympics, much less the ceremonies - but every time I hear the Spice Girls I want to ride up to Watertown & open fire on a UK flagged vessel

I tell ya mate, we are a terrific bunch of people when something happens in London, everyone pulls together, but dont give me any praise as I kept out of London center completely and didn't watch even one event as it should have been built on the originally planned site in the outskirts of North London, NO-ONE I KNOW has been pleased by the Olympics being held where they were...

.....Last night helicopters were very active, the fighter jets were up and down escorting passenger airlines to destination because of misinterpreted radio messages, 4 extra fighters were brought in from the North to help with numbers of aircraft management, ALL had the shoot to kill stamped on their orders...4 aircraft were very lucky apparently, they drifted just a few degrees off course.....

also some unnoficial figures have been sort of leaked out via certain cops.....over 20 known terrorists have been apprehended and will be charged with unlawful assembly, thye crime they wanted to pin on them was conspiracy charges but cant as yet make them stick, another 32 who are known to police have been held without charge during the games.....would be so good if they can get them all for conspiracy.....

Lucky, Like I said in previous message mate, dont thank me, I wanted nothing to do with it all...lol...I kept so far away from there you wouldn't believe...lol...I was sat outside my garages some of those days all day building up a new multi-purpose trailer with clip on to chassis tops... at least 3 uses so far to tow behind Big Yella and the Jet Trike...

I still reckon London was at major risk of something like 9/11 with over 50 million daily in the city...that would have been a major target right?

So I am so very glad that nothing has happened, it could have been the worst thing ever seen if they did anything here ...

Even the Armed Forces were expecting trouble with loads of Military Aircraft and over 12,000 Troops on the ground.....all firearm cops were all around London too with full auto machine guns held at ready...

What the visitors never saw eh?  But us locals could see the differences in London people .....

I used my DVR to record and watch all of the Olympic coverage. I have never enjoyed the Olympics more with just watching the events and fast forwarding thru the blow hards and all the boring back stories they think I need to know about. Well done England!! and the US athletes even though we looked stupid with those hats on at the closing ceremony.

I record everything and blow past all the stuff I don't want to see. Haven't watched a live show in over two years. Haven't seen a commercial or any of that fluff filler in that time either.

I think some of the girls looked cute in those hats. Problem is I'm sure some of the guys looked cute too :-)

Great job to all the US athletes and thanks London for putting on a great Olympics.

Sorry you guys didn't like the cermonies but for me they simply rocked (though I agree re the Spice Girls and Macca!!!) The opening ceremony was a great history lesson and I know that unless you are British you wouldn't have particularly understood lots of it's in built messages - but it was spectacular.

I've never been a huge Olympic fan - other than liking to watch some of the athletics - but this time I've watched loads of it AND thoroughly enjoyed it. Team GB did an awesome job and 11 of the medals came from YORKSHIRE folk - woo hoooooo we certainly know how to breed em up here.

I've heard nothing but praise from everyone I've spoken to and it's inspired lots of kids to want to emulate some of their new heroes - particularly in the cycling and running so that to me is a great legacy

Now - roll on the paralympics

And get ready to paaaaaarty for the next ones because Rio sure know how to throw a carniva or two lol

I was thinking since they have ping-pong they should have darts, pool & bowling. Between US and the folks in the UK we're pretty good at most any game played while drinking beer!!!
