I use a S and S Super E carburator. I tried to change the jets at first but that was the wrong idea. While using the wrong jets I tried some Sea Foam but with the wrong jets that didn't seam to help.
I heard about Star Tron on line and found out it was available at Southern Cycles. I could also get it at an auto dealer. It really seams to work not that the original jets are in use gain. It just didn't seam to run like it had when premiu had more octain in it.
Searching online I stumbled upon Lucas Octain Booster offered at JP Cycle. I lucked out because it was also offered by a local auto parts dealer. The phone number on the bottle let me speak to a technitian and find out how much to mix with the two and a half gallons my fuel tanks...    less

I was told 1.5 fluid ounces  would make a high 43octain.    I've even talked to other riders who have used it in some old hot rod cars. The technutian even told be I can still use star tron and octain booster can get mixed in the gas at any time.    I've heard Lucas also make Sea Foam and that can be used to fight ethanol. I've used that before, once a month in a pickup truck and have heard it also has octain in it.    I'm still having to be carefull because I have been told not to make the octain level too high. 97 and 100 is too high.

Hello bikers. I'm a 54 year old man who still rides the Ironhead purchased while only 21 years old. I'm sticking to that ride to hang onto a sense of freedom. Who cares if they must be able to read and write when that enables them to use a Harley Ironhead repair manual?

in the topic A bike junk yard?? in the forum Biker Chat
I'd call some custom motorcycle repair shops. One in Colorado Springs sold me a used primary chain cover. They have some used parts. From Arizona you can call Larry's custom cycle in Albuquerque, and Southern Cycle in Amarillo. Don't know what's in California.

Harley owners should understand that a back ground check will deam them too risky to own a gun. It may turn out that the only way to legally own a gun is to ride a rice grinder.

in the topic Harley Davidson V-Twin Oil Temperature in the forum Harley Davidson
I still ride an ironhead sporty. That's why 60 weight oil gets used during summer and 20-50 gets used when it's cold. While stationed in Hawaii I learned about the Harley Davidson Chopper Oil Cooler. This link shows mine and how it works in hot big big cities like Honolulu. This summer good luck. good luck.

At least the biker didn't try to pack the dude. One middle aged biker has to fight ethanol.  He believes Einstein's theory of relativity is going to help him win that battle. Anyone who thinks energy equals mass times constant speed squared will help hi ironhead Sportster run like new no matter what is added to gasoline can't help joking with himself while the wrench turns. Ethanol Fuel Additive Jokes Humor tells them jokes and when they are said.

in the topic SeaFoam - Good or Bad? in the forum Harley Davidson
I had to start using sea foam when uncle Sam started adding ethanol to gasoline. Picked up on it after finding out pickup truck owners used it every other tank of gas to clean the tank and carburetor out. Found out other bikers used it to clean the gas tank up as well. It really helps. It makes the gas have more octane and all one has to do is add just a quarter cup of sea foam per gallon. It really helps my iron head run better    A Harley Davidson Iron Head Drag Bike Fuel Petcock might help me win.

in the topic What Tools Do You Carry on Your Motorcycle in the forum Biker Chat
Since my 1980 Iron Head has got points for the ignition and old HDs vibrate so much I cary all the tools needed to get the timing and the points adjusted after they vibrate loose. After a while one figures out what has to be re-done and carries what's required. Lock tight will save them a lot of worry as well.
