Thanks for all the info! I will definitely start reading the pumps for ethanol and will switch to Shell, etc.

I am running a tank of Chevron thru my bike right now, and I think it must be cleaning things up a bit. Not sure yet at this time, probably run a couple tanks before I see any difference mileage wise.

Rex has had two full tanks of 88 octane and although I have not noticed any real performance difference the mileage has dropped about 10%. Going back to 91 or higher.

I use 91 or higher the bike dies if I don't use it. Even with octane booster.

After 1700 miles of highway (4 days) using only 91 or higher in my old Ford 460 RV there is definitely a performance improvement. Mileage didn't change much, still around 7.5 mpg. And I am back to 91 or higher in Rex.

As far as formulation and all not sure how much of a difference that makes but I always use premium wherever I buy it, 91-93 depending on brand. In VA all we seem to be able to get is the "up to 10% ethonol" version.
Not to get political but of all the major brands Shell is the only one that does not import any oil from oversees.
If they weren't as much as 50 cents a gallon more expensive I would definately use Shell.

What are Prices in Your area? We can get regular at the truck stop for $2.95, it had actually gotten down to $2.87 at one point. Premium runs about 20cents higher no matter where you go.

Any brand, 87 octane min. , no ethanol. Following the manual's directions...no issues.

I really don't worry about brand as much as the octane. Normal run 91 - 92 and have never seen any problems or the bike running any different from brand to brand even though all the commercials tell me I should

;Shell premium with a shot of 104 booster.... but also running a power commander to tune it in! Worked for a gas company for a while and there is a big difference in name brand gas and the cheap stuff. Also worked in a parts store and sold a lot of fuel filters, fuel system cleaners and oxygen sensors to regulars at the cheap gas stations. Run what works best in your bike, but i won't cut corners for what i have invested in my ride....
