Is it really about what you ride?

  • i'll start with the story and then i welcome anyone and everyones response after.

a couple weeks ago i was leaving work and was letting my Honda Shadow warm up before taking off and a co-worker, who rides Harleys, came out to his bike saying to me "hold on, you're blowing rice all over my Harley". i admitt this was pretty funny. i just started riding bout a month ago and i like all kinds of bikes and i don't judge anyone on what they ride, but to me its the fact that you do ride. i didn't take offence to his comment but i know alot of people are Harley only. last week before my ride home from work the same guy was trying to kick start his Harley due to a bad starter solenoid, and it probably killed him to ask, but he had to have me push start his bike in the parking lot. Karma? i didn't mind of course, and i followed him home in case any other problems arose. he had to stop for gas on the way and guess what, his bike wouldn't start again. we tried push starting it again but couldn't get it to go and he had to call someone to pick him up. i don't know much at all about bikes or working on them but i wasn't gonna leave him hanging. Harley guy or not i didn't care. i got a bike so i could enjoy life and hopefully make some new friends along the way. i talk to this guy on a regular basis now and i think it should be about respect and love of riding not what you ride.
