Role Reversal and Lifestyles

  At age 65 I was out of a job and married to a much younger woman.  She is currently employed as a diesel mechanic at a boat marina.  My navy retirement pension shares in carrying our lifestyle.  Jennifer works to ride and rides to live.  We both have our own bikes.  I ride to enjoy life and the road.  During the week, I do the lawn work, house cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping and the cooking.  She puts in about 48 to 50 hours a week at her place of employment.  An interesting role reversal that I never saw coming.

  On weekends and during her vacation days we are on the road.  Her bike is a Nightster and mine is a Heritage.  We can pack all of our basic necessities and a tent on the bikes.  Once on the road she takes back the role of a woman and wife.  She can set up the tent for an overnight stay in 15 minutes, cook the meals, make the beer runs and party the evening away.  Jennifer grew up in the outdoors of West Virginia and is totally at home on the road.  She is always ready to ride to any place we haven't been. Her love is the bike, the road and me.  Maybe even in that order!

  I wouldn't trade the lifestyle and woman for any amount.  I consider myself to be truley blessed to have such a road partner and wife.  Not too shabby for a man who first straddled a Harley Panhead in 1963.
