Three Dead in Shooting at Too Broke for Sturgis Motorcycle Rally

    Well, we just got back from a shortened trip to the Too Broke for Sturgis Biker Rally in Mormon Lake, Arizona.  The rally was canceled this morning after a fatal shooting late Friday night.  Here is the story as reported by the news...

    FLAGSTAFF, AZ. (AP) — Three people were killed and one was critically wounded in a shooting at a central Arizona motorcycle rally, authorities say.

    The shooting happened at late Friday at a campground at Mormon Lake, about 35 miles southeast of Flagstaff. The victims were all participants in the annual "Too Broke for Sturgis" motorcycle rally, the Coconino County sheriff's office said.

    Two men and a woman were killed. Another woman from the same group was shot six times, sheriff's spokesman Gerry Blair told the Arizona Daily Sun. She was taken to a Flagstaff hospital for emergency surgery.

    Two other women in the party were taken to the hospital to be treated for shock.

    The victims' names were withheld pending notification of family.

    No suspect is in custody, and Blair said officials are investigating the possibility that the shooting was a murder-suicide.

    At the scene, investigators learned the two women had been sitting in chairs outside a camper when they were shot. One man was found shot several times. The other man was found dead on the ground with a handgun near his hand, Blair said.

    Blair added that deputies assigned to the rally heard what sounded like gunshots at about 11:20 p.m. Soon after, a flood of calls came into the 911 system advising dispatchers of a shooting with multiple victims at the campground.

    About 2,000 people are attending this year's motorcycle rally in the small community of Mormon Lake.

  • wheels There were a total of five shots fired period. I was camping 100 yds away and thats all I can add to the story. I heard from other sources that the shooter actually was one of the young men who was dead at the scene. Two sisters and one of the sisters...  more
