Loud Pipes - Do They Save Lives Or Just Noise?

  • We have heard the debate for years - Do loud pipes save lives or are they just excessive noise?  We posed this question on Facebook and the majority of riders said they noticed a huge difference in being noticed or not noticed depending on how loud their bike was.

Regardless of how we bikers feel, many states are implementing sound laws and organizations like noiseoff.org goes as far to put these types of statements on their websites "Do not approach or attempt to reason with motorcycle riders. When possible, take down their license plate number and call the police." And "Riders who choose to ride with illegal exhaust systems ruin the image of the lifestyle and sport of motorcycling for others."

    What do you think?
