Validation

  • I've been goin' thru some changes the past year, very real, very deep, very enlightening changes.  God's workin' somethin' in me, and there are lessons to be learned.  Sometimes, the hard way.  I'm hard-headed, and I don't always "get" what I'm bein' taught.  And one of the things I'm being shown, is my unneccessary need, to always be right.  I didn't even realize, that that's what I've been doin'.  Sure, I LIKE bein' right about stuff.  I like "knowin' things".  And by sheer virtue of my age and life experiences, I DO know a lot of things.  But knowin' them, and tryin' to force that knowledge onto someone else, is a different kettle of fish, altogether.  I've had to examine my motives for things on a deeper level.  WHY, for instance, do I insist that I "know better" than someone else?  They may know just as much or more, or just have a different perspective.  And that should be good enough.  I DO know, that by bein' around THIS SITE, I've come to be more accepting of others points of view.  And actually, learn from them.  And I've come to cherish those thoughts and opinions.  I think, on some level, that we ALL have an inherent need to be right about some things.     That we only feel "validated", if we "put somethin' out there" for others to ponder. And that we want that "feed-back".  Negative, or positive, just to know that someone is listening.  I mean, on some level, isn't that why people find others, who are like-minded, in the first place?

  • blurplebuzz We all want to feel validated when we put forth some truth that we know needs to be examined outside the frame of perspective we give it. When we examine what the truth is often times we are left with confusing & often contradictory views on what the...  more
  • Jimmyacorn When we are uncertain about what to do we will look to other people to guide us. And we do this automatically and unconsciously. As we look to progress in our personal lives or rise above difficult times, we depend on people to say we are not only...  more
  • LCStrat It's good to recognize things about yourself and make adjustments and grow in wisdom. Uhm, I do that from time to time. I think we all do. I always come to the conclusion, "I wish I'd of learned that 30 years ago."
