My name is Navy Mom Mary. I am a Veteran of the US Women's Army Corp. However, I am the wife of a Navy Veteran and the mother of a Sailor. I have for the last 4 years organized functions for our severely injured warriors through a request from a Sailor who I shipped approximately 13 boxes of supplies/love to while she was stationed in Afghanistan. It was her request of me, a woman she had never met, that turned my life around and the life of many of her brothers.
Through the support of my veteran organization and a local VFW and many other sponsors/supporters, what originally was slated to be a 1 time only event has turned into an annual event.
I am proud to announce that I am currently planning my 5th Annual and the first female warrior will be the recipient.
While each warrior has their own story, I try to make each event specific to that individual. Their stories are all different yet the same - they have all paid a dear price for our freedom and what I find remarkable is that they would all do it again.
So, I bring it forward for them to show them how much America appreciates all they have sacrificed for us.
What is special about this upcoming warrior is that she, a Marine, is seeking to represent the United States in the Paralympics in 2018 in South Korea and I, along with the help and support of many will do our best to help her meet that goal.
