This is my question for anyone out there that has these little expensive ear plugs installed. I was told that the difference is not immediate, something about the brain has to re-adjust to the ability to hear again. My problem lies in the upper ranges, not the Medium to low ranges, so.......
What are the pro's and con's of wearing these little guys. I mean what do I have to look forward to.....

    Thanks everyone

Just use one word from the previous post and add ONE new word.  All responses must be TWO words.

    Example:

    Post 1: customer satisfaction

    Post 2: tough customer

    Post 3: tough break

    Post 4: break wind

    I'll start with...

I once stumbled across a biker bar I had never been to way outside of town.  I pulled in trying to look real cool, taking off my helmet and gloves and then dis-mounting my bike.  Sure wish I would have remembered to put the stand down.

This past weekend I did a little observing on the subject. A group of us were riding, all on Harleys but one Spyder and me on my custom. I saw several hundred scooters and this was what I observed. Every Harley and Goldwing rider I saw waved back. Most metric cruiser and sport bike riders waved. Very few BMW riders waved and damn near no dual sport riders waved. Hell, the BMW folks weren't even friendly at the beer joints. I don't know what any of this means but it was an observation.  less

     I don't like:
ridin' in the COLD, never have.  Call me every name you can think of...I can take it.  What I can't take anymore is feelin' a knife between my shoulder blades when I ride.  Or a too damn tight and cumbersome jacket, or a do-rag rapped around my face, cause of the freakin' cold.  Forget the nose-pickers, this is gauntlet glove weather.  And put on the "woolies" and the chaps. You're gonna need 'em.

All that shit, takes the joy, right outta the ride!  Feel me?

And I've NEVER seen so many helmuts, in my life.  Florida repealed the helmut law, so WTF???
I take that to mean, no ONE ELSE is enjoyin' all this chilly weather, either...

Made enough to go down tonite.  Still ponderin' it.  But...it's goin' down to...    less

Hi Night Dragon. I have been wearing a hearing aid for the past 12 years and have been thru a few. I now have the Mirage from Miracle-Ear and love it. It its programmed to you and once fine tuned it has perfect sound, just like normal hearing - at least what I remember of normal hearing. Plus it is small and almost invisible so no one even knows you are wearing it.

A local guy who was on vacation in Arizona and got in an accident while not wearing a helmet and died. The sad thing is the it was a very minor accident that caused his death. Of course no one can say for sure if he would have lived or died had he been wearing a helmet, I sure think he would have had a better chance since it was such a minor accident. According to his wife he just happened to hit hi head just right even at slow speed.

Hubby and I ride BMWs and wave to everyone. But like a few just said we were brought up in a time when you said good morning or good day to everyone you passed on the street so I guess we just take that courtesy to our riding.

yep, up here we take advantage of anything over 40 degrees and just dress for it! Sure we love the warm weather for the few months we get it, but riding in the chill is just something you get used to. After lots of years of doing it you find warm gear that is not all that bulky and doesn't take that long to put on. Hell it takes us just as long to get the kids dressed before we push them out the door to play in the winter. Who cares if it's a Honda, if you got the time and money put on some long johns and get your butt down there and have some fun!

I took my bike to the shop to have the turn signal switch replace.  The service guy noticed my grips were really worn and asked if I wanted him to replace them while it was in.  I said sure and went into the store and found a new set. When I came back the next day and they brought my bike out I reached over and checked out how the new grips felt.  Not thinking I asked him why the right grip felt loose.  Without missing a beat he said "I made that one special for you, if you turn it it makes a vroom vroom sound".  Boy did I feel stupid

We were there last summer on our way to Florida and it was a great museum. When talking to them though they said they were having a hard time keeping it open and weren't sure how much longer they could afford to do so. Hopefully they are still there!

in the topic Experience vs Skill vs Knowledge in the forum Biker Chat
Rex, your hit it right on with the confidence thing. Someone who is confident can learn to ride or do anything much faster. It is almost impossible to learn if constantly in fear of failure. My husband and I learned to ride well in a short period of time because we both knew it was something we wanted to do and could do. Also agreeing with those above that somethings can only be learned from experience, but that true in everything in life. But the most important thing is you have got to start doing something before you can ever get experience.
