Event Desc

  • The event is the 16th Annual American Legion Riders Freedom Ride, which is open to anyone with a bike.

The Freedom Ride is in honor of our veterans, while wreaths are placed at selected memorial sites in in the St. Mary Parish area (Morgan City, Berwick, Patterson, Franklin, and the Chitimacha Reservation. Each site visit lasts about 20 minutes with guest speakers in attendance, which historically has included the mayors of the respective areas we visit along with other dignitaries.

This year, we will have a refreshment stop at Candy’s Lounge in Franklin, while the ride ends at Friend’s Tavern around noon. At that time, there will be pig roast, auction, 50/50, and live music. (see attached flyer.)

We have had media coverage in the past, including KATC and KWBJ, for example., while last year’s event also make the local paper.
