12/20/2011 at approx 0800 pm a policeman from Aiken Department Of Public Safety killed in the line of duty during a traffic stop. Scotty Richardson and Travis Griffin pulled a vehicle over and the driver of the vehicle opened fire when the officers approached the vehicle. Travis was shot three times in the chest. His vest saved his life and was treated and released from the hospital. Scotty was shot in the head and died at Medical College of Georgia a short time later. The suspect was wounded in the shootout but is expected to make a full recovery. Scotty had been serving with the Aiken County Department of Public Safety since 1999 and is survived by a wife and three young children. Please keep them in your prayers.

We so take for granted our men (& women) in Blue yet they take such a big risk for OUR safety. As a FORMER LEO I am always saddened to hear of a loss like this. My prayers go out to their family and friends.........

We had a local police woman get hit by a vehicle the other day, if she lives she will have to live with a severe brain injury.
As one that has made a living working on roads and highways it gets beyond the pale walking and working in traffic.
