No Helmets in North Carolina?

  • New Law- No Helmets in NC?
What do you think about this:

A new law is on the table to be passed allowing riders to have the OPTION of wearing a HELMET after the age of 21.  Thoughts and opinions on this?
You can view the full Bill here:

    http://ncleg.net/Sessions/2013/Bills/House/PDF/H109v2.pdf

If you are a dealer, from your persepctive, how do you think this will affect your business?
If you are not a dealer, would you be willing to ride without a helmet and why?

We're very curious about what people think about this bill.  The NC Motorcycle Association is 70/30 right now meaning 70% of it's members are against the bill, but 30% are for the bill.  Helmets are obviously a huge necessity when it comes to safety, but many people are willing to forego that safety for comfort.  Tell us what you think.

  • Stormy1963 Rode for years in Texas without a helmet. Hate wearing one now and the minute I hit a state line where it's not required, it comes off!
  • fireescape109 In Florida there's a no helmet law. No cliche here, I believe helmets have a place and they do save lives! I don't wear one most of the time except when tired, raining, heavy traffic, etc... I also do not believe they cause reduced vision or hearing...  more
  • BrewerCycles Coley, you brought up a great point. Our financing manager was just discussing the liability and all the paperwork everyone's going to have to go through with their insurance agents, not to mention the monthly cost increase.
Does that deter to change...  more
