Don't Mess With Baby: The Sportster

    Driving my car today for carpool I passed one of the prettiest little Sportsters I've seen in a while- custom pipes, bars, paint. It screamed for the attention these wonderful little marvels truly deserve so I must defend the honor of the Sportster that so many Harley riders call "starter bikes" and "ladies rides" etc.

    The Sportster has the romantic and loyal history in this industry that so few bikes do... She fought in our wars, raced to win, has been reborn time and again to meet the needs of the people. She is affordable, allowing for an abundance of modification and adaptability (have you SEEN some of the customs and chops using the base of this bike?!).

    The Sportster is nostalgia in motion but she has the strength and power of todays modern technology. She offers confidence in fit and balance to her rider and an adaptability that encourages modification to engine, pipes, body, and details. Personaliztion is simple on a Sportster, encouraging each owner to build thier Sportster as thier own individual love, it makes her unique to her many sisters. You could see a line-up of hundreds of Sportsters and each one would be signifiacantly beautiful and different from the next. This princess of a bike should always be a reflection of her Master.When she is, she is nothing less than Awesome!

    She, by design, creates an aggressive riding position with her low suspension and foot controls.Her lighter weight (562#) allows for an ease of balance and riding control. She bears so much resemblance to her ancestry in the racing bikes of the original '57 model and the '77 XR750, she deserves to be respected She is steeped in perfomance, and even minor modifications can help her grow up to be a helluva creature.

    I will defend and appreciate the Sportsters very likely forever. This morning she gave me an epiphany into my passion that I must be grateful for.
