      Wooly and I went to a Toy run Sunday, it was a great cause but a better excuse to ride down and see some of our favorite cross country touring friends.  Plans was made and we would meet in this town that their father use to own the dealership in.   We had a little business to do but every one forgot the proper paper work that needed signed dated and notarized.  Any way ran into on my favorite parts guy ( the one that helped in a  round about way name the Submarine). A great day indeed but like always when we are having fun we stayed to long.  I was hoping to get back before dark as it is deer season and they seem to be attracted to Wooly.  We did not leave their till after dark and I knew that  a deer could possible be a worst case scenario...Coming back from a Toy run  Wooly was running his spot lights/ running lights/ touring lights what ever you want to call them.   We were running hard  and we was on a small two lane road.  We got to a passing lane and  when we went blasting past this pick up I noticed  that he was flipping us off.   I had seen this before from some people and it got me thinking... Do some people think running lights are bright lights? And if so do the new lights on the bikes get that same response.  You know those really bright led ones.   I know we were not running our brights   when we got near him.  I am a courteous driver on my bike  in my car and work truck...   Any way I was rolling these thoughts around in my head  when I spotted the biggest buck I have ever seen  (And I have a 16 pointer on the farm)  He was all of 6' tall and his chest had to be 3 1/2 feet wide.  Well, I knew from the direction he and I both w going to be road meat.    I don't know what spooked him but all of a sudden he went back into the night away from me and Wooly... Thank you Biker gods... Yes I like to think there is a bunch of old bikers up there trying there damnedest to keep all of us safe... But still thinking do people think running lights are brights?

  • Hunter55 I checked the Harley website and they refer to them as DayMaker LED Headlamps and LED fog lamps being on the 2014 touring models but I do believe the Halogen bulbs on my 2012 Heritage projected light further down the road making it appear brighter,
  • Jimmyacorn The running (spot) lights go off when you switch to high beam. I've found that sometimes the running lights are better than the high beams. But I run my spots all the time to be more visible. However, my spots are also amber.
  • Bitchy His are the HID not the led... He seems to think that us running as hard as we were might have been the reason he flipped us off. I don't know but I have a friend who is a wheelies officer and he said he allows run spots at all times. "At least if...  more
