Jesse James to Shut Down West Coast Choppers

  • Although there has yet to be a press release from Jesse James or West Coast Choppers, many of the news organizations are reporting that it is official that Jesse will be closing West Coast Choppers for good.  Most reports stem from a story broke by TMZ.com.  TMZ said it has the story confirmed from unnamed sources, although we could not independently confirm it.

With no official press release from Jesse James, or the West Coast Choppers company, one can only speculate as to why the business will be shut down, and many are doing just that.  In reading the stories that have already come out, speculation for the shut down include such reasons as: "after his cheating scandal with now ex-wife Sandra Bullock, James apparently has had enough of Long Beach";  "James is living full-time in Texas and wants to focus on his shop out there - Austin Speed Shop"; "The need for expensive motorcycles has stopped. Perhaps with a bad economy, Jesse James and his business is struggling to make ends meet"; "the former husband of Sandra Bullock is reportedly not able to concentrate on the business properly"... and the list goes on and on.  You can read ten different stories on the closing of West Coast Choppers, and you will see 10 different speculative reasons as to why.  As soon as we can find an official press release from Jesse, or the company, we will update this post with the "official" reason.

Founded originally in Paramount, CA in 1993, West Coast Choppers is currently located in a large industrial building in Long Beach, CA, (just south of Los Angeles).  Jesse, and the shop's TV fame turned it into a local landmark, making the shop a destination for bikers and non-bikers alike. James even opened a popular burger joint, Cisco Burger, right next door to the motorcycle shop.  So far, no word on what the future plans are for Cisco Burger.

  • GoFur I guess what gets me, and even tells part of the story, is that the story was broke by TMZ. Remember a few years back when Jesse was just a bike builder, the story would have been broke by a motorcycle magazine like Easy Rider, Hot Bike, or V-Twin,...  more
