I am never just sitting at home...I am very busy either riding my motorcycle, taking photographs, hiking, camping, caving, shopping....during the winter when can't do any of those fun things...I crochet...this is the first year I have done that...I made five afghans and a scarf...most are given away as gifts!
Ever notice how people who tell you calm down are the ones who got you mad in the first place?
the key to happiness, possibly even pleasure when one is"Riding Bitch"is purely in the seam
Lord, if you will not deliver me from evil, then deliver me to it, with the fury of angels
I still like seeing chivalry...you don't see it often enough though. There are times and places that I want to be treated equally...in the work place, but I still enjoy seeing a gentleman hold the door and a woman saying, "Thank you!"
But I often wondered when someone allows me to go first if that was the real reason....hmmm LOL
As passenger, I never had to ask twice, if anything he knew exactly what I needed. Whether it was too cold, too warm, bathroom, water....that is a shared venture. We rode 14,000 miles in one season, never had one disagreement on the road.
Even when I ride on my own bike with the guys, they check with me frequently to see if I need to stop for anything. If I have to ride with someone "selfish" or who doesn't care....that wouldn't last long at all!
I ride with my bf locally, but I have some other friends that I ride with too. They are more into the long distance rides, which I started out in as a passenger. Most of my longer trips though, I ride solo. I don't mind, my wishlist does have a pair of speakers on it though...for those long runs home in the dead of night! I don't mind riding solo at all, because I don't have to have any of my ideas or plans questioned at all! I really love that! The only attitude I have is my own.....:D
I don't really notice guys when I am riding, because thoughts are on my skills and the feeling of pure freedom. But when I stop at a light, gas station, or diner...people always come up to look at my bike and talk to me. Once I had stopped for breakfast and this little old lady stopped me and said, "How does your little butt hold up that bike?" I just laughed and she went on to tell me a story about her first ride, on her brother's bike...it was funny :D
I can totally understand where a few of you are at in life! I was married for 18 years, then ex decided to take a road not traveled which didn't include me, but not til he made sure that there was nothing left (had my 17 year old son move with him, and we lost the house, money, car). So I started from scratch, kept my relationship with my son strong, kept the job and my vehicle. The first relationship I had, the gentleman had a motorcycle and that was my introduction to riding. We rode 14,000 miles in one year! I took tons of photos (5,000). But I knew that relationship was going to be terminal, so I walked away, we still remain friends and have taken a few rides together, but I take my bike now! I decided that I loved biking so much, that I needed to have one of my very own. So after about a year in therapy for injuries from a highway crash (in my truck) I took that Riders Edge course, passed and bought my neighbor's bike. It was a 2007 and only had 250 miles on it! The first three months, before winter, I put on 1000 miles. The second season I have put on over 5000 miles on it. But I had to work that around some major medical issues, in which I wasn't allowed to ride at all. I can only ride after work, weekends, and during the summer I have more time to ride. I ride it to work sometimes. It is a major part of my life now, I learned how to change the oil and do a little work on it, and I ride the daylights out of it, wipe it down and it is ready for the next day. I too worry about the economy and what it has done to the world we have come to know. Just always know in your heart that this to will change, hopefully for the better, and what you go through will make you stronger and wiser!
