On Saturday, April14th 2018, we are conducting the 4th Annual Shakes, Rattles, Rides and Rods for Parkinson’s Disease Event to promote awareness, education, therapy and conduct fundraising activities. AMVETS Post 44, LAMA, American Legion Riders Alafia Chapter Post 148 ,Full Throttle Magazine is to participate along with others. The event will be held at Harley Davidson Of Brandon.

Proceeds will benefit Michael J. Fox Foundation and the Frances J. Zesiewicz Foundation for Parkinson’s Disease at the University of South Florida in Tampa.

We are seeking your support in this endeavor. This year Shakes, Rattles, Rides and Rods for Parkinson’s Disease aims to raise more than $20,000 to enable the foundations to provide therapy and fund clinical studies and/or a scholarship to educate physicians treating patients with Parkinson’s Disease. To that end, we need the generous backing of corporate sponsors as well as our friends and family. We are requesting cash donations, vendors, products, gift certificates or promotional items that we could raffle or auction to raise funds to support this worthwhile cause.

A $15 donation per person will include a meal catered by Boots n’ Badges with scheduled activities involving live auctions, as well as Chinese raffles, prize drawings, vendors, and FREE Screenings for Parkinson’s Disease. Live music by Double Barrel Band.

After being diagnosed, I decided that I would not allow Parkinson’s Disease to bring me down. We plan on furthering the foundation’s mission to fund cutting-edge research to bring meaningful advances in therapy and treatments until they eventually find a cure for people like me affected by this debilitating disease. An estimated seven to ten million people worldwide are living with Parkinson’s Disease, a progressive disorder of the nervous system that affects movement. Symptoms typically progress from mild tremors to complete physical incapacitation. In the United States, an estimated 60,000 new cases are diagnosed each year. There is no known cure for Parkinson’s Disease. Current treatments mask symptoms but do not alter or slow the disease progression.
