5th Annual Motorcycle Awareness Ride
Often after a crash involving a motorcycle, the driver of the other vehicle will be heard saying, “I never saw the motorcycle!” On April 22, 2012, nine area motorcycle riding organizations will join together to lead a safety-awareness ride through the Ozarks. The theme of the ride is “Can You See Me Now?”
The area rider groups represented are:
American Legion Riders
Bikers Against Dumb Drivers
Christian Motorcycle Association
Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association
Freedom of the Road Riders
Gold Wing Road Riders Association
Lady Cruisers of the Ozarks
Lake Country Riders
Springfield Retreads
Six hundred motorcyclists are expected to participate in the ride, which starts at Remington’s parking lot off Republic Road. Registration will begin at 12:30 with the ride starting at 1:30 p.m. The 75 mile route will proceed from Remington’s through the towns of Nixa, Ozark, Springfield, Willard, Republic, and end at American Legion Post 639 in Springfield. There is no cost for participation and free T-shirts will be provided as available. There will be food and drinks available at the end point and music by Tuck & Abney.
