JACKSONVILLE, Onslow County — Several bikers took part in a weekend event to show support and give back to veterans in Eastern North Carolina.

They participated in the 3rd Annual American Legion Riders Poker Run

The ride started at American Legion Post 265 on Broadhurst Road in Jacksonville.

Registration was from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2023. The last bike had to be in by 4 p.m.

Assistant Director, John Potter, says the purpose of this event is to promote the veterans. The donations received from the event are going to support 7 veteran causes including March for the 22, Fisher House, Onslow Community Outreach and more.

One veteran participant, Keith Hayes, was one of the newer riders, and he says he took part in this event to support his fellow brothers.
