Dearest Family and Friends,
Erica and Chad need our help for what the next year has in store for their beautiful family of 5! After recent months of mammogram screenings, steroid medications, MRI’s and awaiting results from a skin punch biopsy, on March 1st, 2021 we were saddened to learn Erica's been diagnosed with stage 3, Inflammatory Breast Cancer at 38 years old.
IBC is a rare breast cancer caused by cells blocking lymph vessels in the skin, causing the skin to look inflamed and accounts for only 1-5% of all breast cancers. Erica will undergo chemo every 3 weeks, 8 hours a day each treatment for the next 4 months. She will then have a mastectomy to remove the cancer from her whole breast with reconstructive surgery. Erica will receive Post-mastectomy Radiation therapy before completing the journey with monthly infusions until remission is completed. Opting to use the latest treatment to reduce chemotherapy-induced alopecia by 50-70%, DigniCap Delta, which regrettably is not covered under medical insurance. The scalp thermoelectric cooling technology alone costs over $2K for 6 treatments.
Chad and Erica have 3 children, Cheyenne (14), Hunter (8) and Cooper (1). Chad is the only provider of the family. Due to the treatments, hands on care Erica will need and looking after the children, he will be missing an unallocated amount of time from work. Erica will not be able to tend to the kids or any household duties while undergoing treatment.
With our support, we can help this wonderful family receive the best medical care, medications, cover unexpected expenses, and their day to day finances.
