I need my CF family's feedback...Be Brutaly Honest...ight?

  • November 19, 2011 11:24 AM PST

I've never had "Biker Handle" till bout 3years ago a fellow motor officer dubbed me..RandyJoe...It had a cool ring to it n since it came from a friend n fellow officer I adopted it n rode with.....OK...

Since then I retired from the Armed Police Moter Escort n Patrol n this so called friend has been been back biting me n refuses to pay back some $$$ I loaned him....I know the money is gone...Don't care...The back biting I hear has earned him Sgt. status...

Some of you have probably noticed I've changed my sign off as IceBear...OK...

The handle IceBear comes from my work ...I am a removal tech for a funeral service company "part time" the reason my colleges call me IceBear is because I always have the ac on in the removal vans every trip all year round...NOTE - Driver side n pasenger have seperate controls..also if it's my turn to pull n all nighter when the day crew comes on the office door n windows are always wide open...then there is the cooler where we place the deceased n I'm the only one that works up a sweat moping it......NOW...

The person that dubbed me IceBear dosent ride n will never ride n I have a ton of respect for this guy that started this.. he is a 30yr retired firefighter n I'm the only white guy that he will tell a racial joke to....nuff said....

My question to my biker family...since RandyJoe is the first biker handle I ever got would it be disrespectful to me or ya'll if'n I change it to IceBear...

No sign off handle till I hear from ya'll

If you feel more comfortable with the new handle, so be it. Your decision, and to be honest, if that is what you want to ride with, so be it. The hell with what the rest of the world thinks after a point. You have to wear it and that is all that matters. After all, being called RandyJoe, IceBear, or anything else doesn't change the man and the person we know. Nuff said by me....

Man..we ride because we love doing it, just the road and you,,, you meet people every now and then some good and some bad ...some we keep and some we just let go..we are all biker dudes,, thats important..just be yourself..

We all have come to expect change and change we must, sometimes. Call yourself whatever you want and whatever makes you happy. Does it make you happy? That is the bottom line.

Well here is my 2 cents worth, I've know ya as RandyJoe for some time now and it sounds like you. I could get use to ICEBEAR after some time. As long as you are happy with your road name. Now if you had tried to change it to ShitBird or something crazy that would be different. Keep what ya got.

I see you signed a post RandyJo so perhaps your decision is made - a good one I suspect. While I'm a newbie here, I thought I'd add my 2 cents.

If you want to disassociate with much of what 'RandyJo' is and has been here then go ahead at change it. Pople will tend (in time) to lose the 'RandyJo' memories and build new IceBear memories.

we all get nick names through out our lives...most of them as a sign of respect or an endearment from a friend... i've been called many..from mighty mouse to grasshopper.....and a few i won't mention....but what i go with is what i feel most comfortable with..and it changes with age...bottom line...go with what you feel represents you......we will all respect you the same, no matter what you choose.

Just do what feels right,if folks cant hang after you've explained the change then fergit them,or just remain RandyJoe I am sure those who are real friends wont care either way

I'm GoetzYou but no one calls me that , they cant say it right. So most people know my real name. It really doesn't matter what you go by, Geeezzzzz what are we little kids. its just a name. You aren't in a MC or 1% club , so it is your choice. Too many people try to use a "nick name" to impress people that they live a certain lifestlye ....'bro". Just be yourself

I pretty much agree with all that has been said. I would add my opinion (you asked) that it doesn't matter if the guy who tagged you RandyJoe pulled some crap on you and turned into an A hole. If people you respect and care about like to call you that and you like it let it be unless you hate it then change it. If you're in a club you're kinda stuck with what you get unless you move on somewhere. When I'm down in Phx. people I've known for 30 years and family have always, and still call me Jimbo. When I'm in Northern AZ where I've lived for 20 years everyone calls me Jimmy. After all a rose by any other name... Call your self whatever you want. WOW! this went way longer than intended. Hah. Ride on, Jypsy Jimmy Jimbo

Ok, here's what I think.  You've got the guy who dubbed you, bein' a Richard Cranium. Now here's what you ask yerself, does Dick Head have a reputation that you'd just as soon disassociate yerself from, cause if that's the case, I am in full agreement...lose that handle, IF, you give a damn what HIS so called friends think,  and IF, they are mutual friends. Or you could shorten it, to R.J., if that's any easier. But me? I have some experience with this... I was "named" Tweek for a wholly different reason than drugs...My Hand to GOD. But everyone's first thought is..."she's a tweeker". (Meaning a Methamphetamine addict, for all you old farts...heeheehee) I never did meth once in my whole life, K? Someday I'll tell ya'll what it really means, but those with breast fixations, can figure it out...lol

ANYWAYS... I COULD have let that make my decision to change my handle, but the name kinda grew on me, a lot of people knew me by that, and I didn't figure it was worth coming to grips with a new "name" for.

IF, someone has an issue, well, seems to me...that would be "their" problem. Eh? Jis my two, bro!!!

    Ride Free

    Tweek

PS - I like RandyJoe, but I can "picture" the Coca-Cola "IceBear"....

I didn't realize the post script would come out so LARGE, sorry ya'll....I wasn't yellin', I swear.....

The handle a person uses to refer to himself is between him, his maker & possibly the odd collection agency but saying a handle came from "an old enemy" does give some cachet

If ya like to be called IceBear better, then that's what will call ya. It may take a bit before I remember though

The way I see it...you are "RandyJoe The Icebear!"

I'll put my 1/2 a penny in.  RandJoe If you like IceBear better then go for it.  Just remember it is a fine line from friend to non-friend for some people and if they changed there name when something like this happened there could be alot of different "new named" old friends on here as well.  But if you feel that strongly you may be able to put a spin on it like Mac117 said, " RandyJoe The IceBear"  Because most of us know you as RandyJoe and if we forget from time to time try not to bite our head off IceBear.

I think either name r cool since nic names r given i would have to base it on if it pisses u off thinking of the back biter when u hear Randy Jo change it if not keep it. I appreciate your job also it is a thankless job that takes a special person to do
  • November 21, 2011 9:02 AM PST
If you like the handle keep it. If people refer to you by that handle use it. If you don't like it or no one else uses it, then dump it.I out grew one about twenty years ago, but still respond to it when called by it (by the two people alive that knew it).Only rule about handles is there aren't really any real rules.

We'll take you just the way you are - whether that's RandyJoe or Icebear. Just choose the name that means the most to you as you'll be stuck with it a while. Like Lucky says it may take us some time to get used to your new name if you decide to change it but you'll still always be the same great guy to us no matter what.
  • February 28, 2013 12:47 PM PST
just outta curiosity . . . how do you change your name here?
I've picked up a new one, recently, and I was getting tired of the old one
  • February 28, 2013 1:04 PM PST
    Change it without a doubt

The guy has twisted his guilt into back biting.

No disrespect, but....You do what YOU want and that's who you answer to. If IceBear is what you want , then you are Ice Bear. No sense worrying what others say, or you'd have to get their ok for everything you do!
