    Hi all,

Recently bought a used Honda as my first bike and am looking for some recommendations on fun places to ride preferrably in or around North Carolina.  Anyone here ridden on Blue Ridge Parkway for example?  What time of year would be good for that?

    Thanks!

Anywhere along the Appalachians is great riding. If youre a rookie avoid the Tail of the Dragon. Too many bozos there. Stating the obvious warmer is better, but Fall is Awesome. Also US 58 across southern VA from Norfolk to WV is a nice ride.

I have to agree with Rex; the Dragon is no place for a rookie.  Folks have a tendency to believe it's a sightseeing adventure but it's definitely not that.  There's too much happening to take in the sights. But there are wonderful roads to ride all over in NC where you can test your skills and still enjoy the scenery.

The Blue Ridge Parkway speed limit is 45 mph.  It's not all that comfortable a ride in the hot summer months with mandatory helmet requirements.  Early fall before the leaves fall is a wonderful time.

South out of Cherokee, NC is a gorgeous ride on Rte. 74 and 19 along the river.

Over the mountain in Tennessee south of Gatlinburg is absolutely gorgeous country.

Enjoy yourself. Take the riders course.  Stay safe.
