Wow! Sorry to hear about the accident, but glad to hear you guys are on your way to recovery!

I know I am way over here in AZ, but let me know if there is anything I can do to. I hope you guys have good insurance because between all of the ambulance rides, life-flight, hospital stay and surgery I am sure the bill is going to be outrageous. If you need help financially maybe we can set up some poker runs or fundraisers in different areas for you guys.

Best wishes for a safe recovery for both of ya'll. Everyone that puts a leg over a bike lives with the chance of road rash or worse at some point in time. I have had my share of both.

Glad to hear you guys are ok and on the mend. It sounds like it could've been a lot worse..

Oh, man. So sorry to hear of the crash and we're all glad you will be OK.
And from what we know, you two would make the best patients in the hospital!

Ron i sure am glad you guys are ok, unbelievable...
    Prayers to both of you!
I actually logged on right now to tell you and the others i met at Redwood what happened to me and why i never made it back to the campsite on Saturday. Saturday afternoon me and my bro were doing some exploring (hiking not riding) up somewhere off Ave of the Giants) and i fell and broke my ankle, i knew it was broke because i could feel my bones moving around so i kept my boots on and we went back to Benbow and packed up to leave first thing Sunday. I was able to walk on it - turns out i broke the stabilizer bone not the fibia bone that supports your weight, learned this from my xrays once i got home. Yeah i rode it back all the way here to HB with a broken ankle and dang it was the most painful ride of my life but i got it done. Anyhow i had surgery myself last week, got a metal plate and 7 screws installed and will also be on crutches for next 6-8 weeks. Not nearly as bad as what happend to you guys! I'm going back to work starting tomorrow now that im weaning off the pain killers, just going to be doing the prescription ibubrofen from here on out so i am losing the groggyness. It's amazing just how difficult it can be just to shower and get around the house but i think i'm finally getting the hang of these crutches. Hope you guys have a quick recovery and i will look forward to riding with you once were all healed up. Just hang in there and be positive, it will get better and easier with each day.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words!

Update: I went to the doctor yesterday and all is healing well! If all goes well I should be able to ride again in August! The past few days I have been able to move around pretty good using my cane and can spend the entire day working with no pain meds - still need to take them to sleep comfortably, otherwise if I move the broken ribs or shoulder wrong I wake up screaming!

Laura will see the doctor early next week - she needs to see a specialist. She is also doing well but cannot move around as well. It will probably be a little longer before she is back on the bike. Her company, which she has only been with for less than two months, was kind enough to let her work from home until she is better. They even sent their IT guy to the house to hook up a computer with a private network connected to the office.

As for the bike - from what I hear from DebraJo and Richard, he is doing fine too... but missing us, and we are missing him. Very strange to go in the garage and not see the Road King! We will probably go pick it up in the truck in mid-July. Deb and Richard are going to ride it over to Hollister on 4th of July Weekend!.

We actually both slept in bed for the first time last night. Up until a few days ago it was too hard for Laura to get in and out of bed and when I laid down it hurt my ribs, so we were both sleeping on the recliner couch. Two days ago Laura made it into the bed and last night I was able to lay down for the first time.

Amazing how just the little things like sleeping in my own bed for the first time in over two weeks make me feel so good!!!

Wow!!!! I go away for a couple of weeks and look what happens. I feel your pain. FYI, sleeping on the affected side is the best way to go. Glad to know you all are going to be o.k. I'm sure Laura will be wanting you to post her "recovered" photo.

    Peace
