Largest Motorcycle Poker Run: Realities for Children breaks Guinness World Record

  • On May 26th, 2013 a rumble was heard in Northern Colorado.  In response to a cry for help from local children suffering abuse or neglect, thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts rallied together…. and set a new world record in the process.  Nearly 3,000 riders joined the annual poker run (1,531 of them qualified as World Record Riders) and helped CRUSH the previous world record of 586 riders.  Their efforts not only helped The Realities Ride make history- but helped raise over $100,000 for Larimer County youth.  Thanks to the generous event sponsors, 100% of the money raised was placed directly into the Realities for Children Emergency Fund, which benefits the most vulnerable children in thier community- those whose voices have been silence by abuse and/or neglect.  Find out more about what Realities for Children do and who they serve at www.RealitiesForChildren.com.

The existing world record is 586 participants, according to the Guinness Book of World Records, but the Realities Ride recorded 1,531 eligable participants, The Coloradoan reported.

We crushed it," said Craig Secher, Realities for Children Charities president and founder.

Secher said more than 380 volunteers assisted in the effort along with vitually every law enforcement agency in the region and five other nonprofit agencies.

The Realities Ride & Rally annually admits thousands of participants and draws crowds of over 15,000 people during the course of the two day weekend.

Note: The 2013 Realities Ride did lots of advertising here on CycleFish and we hope we were a big part of helping them break this record.  For more information on the 2014 Realities Ride, check our Colorado Motorcycle Event Calendar
