H.R. 2141

  • Thank you for contacting me regarding H.R. 2141, the Motorcyclist Advisory Council Reauthorization Act.  I appreciate hearing from you on this important issue.

As you may know, on March 23, 2021, Representative Mike Gallagher (R-WI) introduced the Motorcyclist Advisory Council Reauthorization Act.  This bill would reauthorize the Motorcyclist Advisory Council  at the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) for six years.  H.R. 5234 has been referred to the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure for further consideration.

Since 2012, nationwide motorcycle usage has increased 25 percent, with nine million motorcycles registered in the United States in 2017.  Like you, I believe motor safety for all Americans is a very important concern.  With the rising number of motorcycles on the road it is important that DOT has accurate data to help keep motorcyclists safe.  I will keep your thoughts in mind should H.R. 2141 or similar legislation come to the House floor for a vote.

Again, thank you for expressing your thoughts on this important issue.  Please do not hesitate to contact me or my staff if I can be of assistance in the future.  It is an honor and a privilege to serve Western Pennsylvania in the United States Congress.
