|Event Type||Benefit - Charity|
|Event Description||The B.L.U.E. Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)3 charity was established for the purpose of aiding active and retired police officers and their families with such crisis as dealing with a tragedy, illness, death, substance abuse, emergency, or are in financial need, by referring them to counseling, psychiatric, medical and social providers or facilities that will address their specific needs, as well as organizing fundraising efforts if an officer’s needs requires it.
The Westchester B.L.U.E. Foundation (Brothers in Law Enforcement Uniting Effort) is a volunteer peer support network. Our commitment is to dedicate ourselves to providing a confidential, safe and supportive environment for police officers and their families. In doing so, the B.L.U.E. Foundation hopes to help families and individuals cope more effectively with the multitude of stresses experienced during the course of their career in law enforcement. We are dedicated to the prevention and reduction of suicides, marital problems, and substance abuse, as well as existing psychological disorders among our officers.
It is our hope to also provide routine heart screening programs so police officers can take a proactive role in managing their physical health, as well as their mental health. These programs will be beneficial to each municipality as well. Officers, who are effectively managing their stress, will feel healthier and thereby be less likely to take sick days. They will also be better enabled to make proper judgment calls and reduce civilian complaints and the department’s civil liability. In today’s society, police officers need all the support they can get.
Please join us on September 25th in our 3rd annual fundraising effort for this foundation. 100% of the funds collected will be donated to the foundation.
