No you don't. Just remove the two bolts on each side and slide the fender right out. Don't forget to disconnect the fender tip light, it's got a connector in the headlight assembly.
Note: you may find it a little easier if you remove the brake calipers. The rear bold on each side is very close to the caliper. If you don't remove the calipers, unless you have a very thin wall socket you will need to use an open end wrench on that rear bolt.
