PhaceBook Vs. CycleFish

Y'know I think I post more here now than I do in 'Phacebook' ( the name has been conveniently changed to protect the guilty)! LOL

yeah....that seems to be the problem with these sites....."Just when you think you're out....they suck ya back in!"

Phacebook has my real life friends -- some from over 25 some odd years ago. This site is where I interact with whom I call imaginary friends, since most of the people here I haven't actually met in person...yet!

Yeah, that other place has it's bene's. Since I travel and am away from close friends and family it is a good place to keep somewhat in-touch (don't tell anyone but some of my family and friends are not bikers). But for biker sites I will always say this is the best damn biker site on this here web thing!

I use the "check-in" feature of the Facebook phone app often during road trips. It lets friends and family keep tabs on where I am when I am doing one of my solo cross country trips.

I just make sure I have the security settings set for FRIENDS ONLY!!

I mostly lurk on them both. I find that I get different types of info from the same people on the 2 different boards. It's kinda like seeing the other side of folks you feel like you have known forever!

My entire, I mean ENTIRE family uses phacebook........not me!!!  I'm so frkn old fashion and out of touch I guess and I just don't like the whole FB concept; well mainly where it's headed and the headaches it can cause.  I seem to be, perhaps unwarrantedly so, annoyed by just about everything these days.  Technical stuff irritates me.  My cell phone just a phone.  APPS?  What the hell for?   Someone (anyone?) will have to convince that there is an APP I truly cannot live without. I can't see where planning my life or lifestyle around a phone APP is as adventureous as ridinng into a storm ya didn't know was out there.

I admit I'm cool with computers but I don't keep up with the technology.  I'm still amazed by the first one I bought over a decade ago.  I like the idea of CF because it's in tune with my lifestyle.  FB is over bearing, opens up the world to all that is personal, and while it may expand ones horizon somewhat, it tends to be a life of fantasy or vicariousness. It's personality borders on commercialism. Here at CF we have a world of empathy, identification, confirmation, and I like that. Unlike FB however, CF doesn't take away the mystery or the excitement of living.........doing what we do.  What each of us says seems to matter to the rest. Why?  As I said before, we can identify.

Oh yeah, we spoke of "posers" here at CF.  You can see and identify a helluva lot of phonies on FB.  I don't deal with 'em in real time and I ain't doin' it in a world wide community of empy-headedness.  Please please, present company excluded of course. I'm not categorizing everyone or anyone on CF who enjoys FB.   It's just not my cup of tea.

    Peace

    THANK YOU!!!
Good to know I have 'company' ...........
I consider myself tech-savvvy but cell phone works just as great as my business phone which works just as well as emails, etc.
My daughter set up a FACEBOOK account for me so I can see pics of our grandbaby ........... I only check it when she TEXTS me that she has posted photos ..............haha!!  Her husband (son in law) are 'hold outs' ............ so far!!
Don't need to SHARE EVERYTHING ............with total strangers, geeezz!

Human interaction, in real life, is becoming a 'lost art' ........
    Technology ........ a necessary evil ...........

I'm on both somewhat often, but still just use FB to read up on what my friends and family are up to, not really posting that much. Maybe flip through their photo albums when I'm bored.

Here on the CF i spend a bit of time reading what's going on, what's coming up, and I do post way more often... Probably just cuz it's more interesting over here.

Not really worried about my own privacy... Anything anyone wants to know, they can just ask for...
