I'm not a fan of Eminem, but my son is and he turned me on to this song a couple of weeks ago and considering the people who adopted me, it really hit home. Same with his movie, 8 Mile, it hit home hard. I hope I edited all the "F" words... Where's my snare? I have no snare in my headphones There you go Yeah, yo, yo Have you ever been hated or discriminated against? I have, I've been protested and demonstrated against Picket signs for my wicked rhymes, look at the times Sick as the mind of the motherf*ckin' kid that's behind All this commotion, emotions run deep as ocean's explodin' Tempers flarin' from parents, just blow 'em off and keep goin' Not takin' nothin' from no one, give 'em hell long as I'm breathin' Keep kickin' ass in the mornin' and takin' names in the evenin' Leave 'em with a taste as sour as vinegar in their mouth See, they can trigger me but they'll never figure me out Look at me now, I bet ya probably sick of me now, ain't you momma? I'ma make you look so ridiculous now I'm sorry momma I never meant to hurt you I never meant to make you cry but tonight I'm cleanin' out my closet, one more time I said, I'm sorry momma I never meant to hurt you I never meant to make you cry but tonight I'm cleanin' out my closet Ha, I got some skeletons in my closet And I don't know if no one knows it So before they thrown me inside my coffin and close it I'ma expose it, I'll take you back to '73 Before I ever had a multi-platinum sellin' C.D. I was a baby, maybe I was just a couple of months My faggot father must have had his panties up in a bunch 'Coz he split, I wonder if he even kissed me goodbye No, I don't on second thought, I just f*ckin' wished he would die I look at Hailie and I couldn't picture leavin' her side Even if I hated Kim, I grit my teeth and I'd try To make it work with her at least for Hailie's sake I maybe made some mistakes but I'm only human But I'm man enough to face them today What I did was stupid, no doubt it was dumb But the smartest shit I did was take the bullets outta that gun 'Cuz I'da killed him, shit I woulda shot Kim and them both It's my life, I'd like to welcome y'all to 'The Eminem Show' I'm sorry momma I never meant to hurt you I never meant to make you cry but tonight I'm cleanin' out my closet, one more time I said, I'm sorry momma I never meant to hurt you I never meant to make you cry but tonight I'm cleanin' out my closet Now I would never diss my own momma just to get recognition Take a second to listen for who you think this record is dissin' But put yourself in my position, just try to envision Witnessin' your momma poppin' prescription pills in the kitchen Bitchin' that someone's always goin' through her purse and shit's missin' Goin' through public housin' systems, victim of Munchausen's syndrome My whole life I was made to believe I was sick when I wasn't 'Til I grew up, now I blew up, it makes you sick to your stomach Doesn't it? Wasn't it the reason you made that C.D. for me Ma? So you could try to justify the way you treated me ma? But guess what? You're gettin older now and it's cold when you're lonely And Nathan's growin' up so quick, he's gonna know that you're phony And Hailie's gettin' so big now, you should see her, she's beautiful But you'll never see her, she won't even be at your funeral See, what hurts me the most is you won't admit you was wrong Bitch, do your song, keep tellin' yourself that you was a mom But how dare you try to take what you didn't help me to get You selfish bitch, I hope you f*ckin' burn in hell for this shit Remember when Ronnie died and you said you wished it was me? Well, guess what, I am dead, dead to you as can be I'm sorry momma I never meant to hurt you I never meant to make you cry but tonight I'm cleanin' out my closet, one more time I said, I'm sorry momma I never meant to hurt you I never meant to make you cry but tonight I'm cleanin' out my closet ______________________ Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

words don't do much for me, heard my share of lies in my life. now the music, the harmony, harmonious discord, the play of one instrument to another. lenny, wishes were horses, life without you. that moves the soul ______________________ if you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything. |

I hear ya badinfluence, for me I guess I'm just the opposite. Music itself is beautiful, and I love all kinds, but words have been my escape since I was a kid. I play several instruments, but they just don't "do it" for me the way writing does. Does that make sense? ______________________ Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Ok rex another that touched my heart Tears In Heaven by Eric Clapton and Will Jennings Would you know my name If I saw you in heaven? Would it be the same If I saw you in heaven? I must be strong And carry on, 'Cause I know I don't belong Here in heaven. Would you hold my hand If I saw you in heaven? Would you help me stand If I saw you in heaven? I'll find my way Through night and day, 'Cause I know I just can't stay Here in heaven. Time can bring you down, Time can bend your knees. Time can break your heart, Have you begging please, begging please. Beyond the door, There's peace I'm sure, And I know there'll be no more Tears in heaven. Would you know my name If I saw you in heaven? Would it be the same If I saw you in heaven? I must be strong And carry on, 'Cause I know I don't belong Here in heaven. ______________________ |

There are places I remember All my life though some have changed Some forever not for better Some have gone and some remain All these places have their moments With lovers and friends I still can recall Some are dead and some are living In my life I've loved them all But of all these friends and lovers There is no one compares with you And these memories lose their meaning When I think of love as something new Though I know I'll never lose affection For people and things that went before I know I'll often stop and think about them In my life I love you more Though I know I'll never lose affection For people and things that went before I know I'll often stop and think about them In my life I love you more In my life I love you more ______________________ ![]() Hearts of fire Streets of stone Modern warriors Saddle iron horses of chrome |

I usually keep these things in the family, but I'm feeling some love here...lol...so here's one I wrote. Everything is Right Key of A Tempo: 84BPM :Copyright 2008 James Barnhart Sittin here on a Sunday afternoon, The rain is on the window pane. Takes me back to evenings at my grandma’s house, Catchin’ night crawlers in the rain. You had to grab ‘em quick before they saw your light, Crawlin round with ole’ Ed Brown, My jeans were a muddy sight. Sittin down by the river on the boat ramp, A coal barge is chuggin by, ’72 GMC with the tailgate down, a YooHoo and an oatmeal pie. The morning sun was lightin up that Flatwoods riverbank, And me and Dad were skippin rocks and guessin how far they had sank. Just a couple times that I recall when everything was right, Way back when we were all still here, and everything was right. Standing tall as the Captain read those words, Old Glory in the morning sun. Fifty years after my Grandpa served, I could feel him as that Medal was hung. Granny said the Master’s brush paints all that is this place, And from my flying machine I can see His amazing grace. Yeah there are times that I recall, when everything felt right, Some good times that I remember, when everything seemed right (Instrumental) Sittin’ here watchin’ my children play, They’re runnin’ all around this place, My wife looks over and catches my eye, A smile spreads across my face. Everything before now just dims and fades away, And in my heart I know that I can finally say, No matter what happens now, I know I got it right No matter what I accomplish now, I already got it right. (Instrumental) Now we're all here again, and everything is right. |

There is unrest in the forest There is trouble with the trees For the maples want more sunlight And the oaks ignore their pleas The trouble with the maples (And they're quite convinced they're right) They say the oaks are just too lofty And they grab up all the light But the oaks can't help their feelings If they like the way they're made And they wonder why the maples Can't be happy in their shade There is trouble in the forest And the creatures all have fled As the maples scream 'Oppression!' And the oaks just shake their heads So the maples formed a union And demanded equal rights 'The oaks are just too greedy We will make them give us light' Now there's no more oak oppression For they passed a noble law And the trees are all kept equal By hatchet, axe and saw ______________________ |

I could stay awake just to hear you breathing Watch you smile while you are sleeping Far away and dreaming I could spend my life in this sweet surrender I could stay lost in this moment forever Well, every moment spent with you Is a moment I treasure I don't wanna close my eyes I don't wanna fall asleep 'Cause I'd miss you, babe And I don't wanna miss a thing 'Cause even when I dream of you The sweetest dream will never do I'd still miss you, babe And I don't wanna miss a thing Lying close to you Feeling your heart beating And I'm wondering what you're dreaming Wondering if it's me you're seeing Then I kiss your eyes and thank God we're together And I just wanna stay with you In this moment forever, forever and ever ______________________ ![]() www.jlh-oils.com |

Mike - you come up with some great topics! There's so many - here's a few of mine in no particular order: 1. Imagine - John Lennon - makes me cry every time 2. Maybe I'm Amazed - Paul McCartney - always brings thoughts of my husband and the trials and tribulations we've faced over the last 22 years and we're still here and stronger then ever 3. Chevy Van - Sammy Johns - this one's probably pretty obvious..... 4. Shooting Star - Bad Co. - friends that have ended their lives 5. Numerous Seger songs - probably no explanation needed there 6. Sitting at a Red Light and Lie to Me - Johnny Lang (worth checking out if you like blues and haven't heard him) 7. Unwritten - Natasha Bedingfield - heard this song for the first time not too long after I got sober: I am unwritten, can't read my mind, I'm undefined I'm just beginning, the pen's in my hand, ending unplanned Staring at the blank page before you Open up the dirty window Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find Reaching for something in the distance So close you can almost taste it Release your inhibitions Feel the rain on your skin No one else can do it for you Only you can let it in No one else, no one else Can speak the words on your lips Drench yourself in words unspoken Live your life with arms wide open Today is where your book begins The rest is still unwritten ______________________ ~~Kellie |
