Students Silenced for singing National Anthem in front of Lincoln Memorial!!!!!!!??????? http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local-beat/Students-Silenced-for-Singing-Anthem-at-Lincoln-Memorial-100443134.html Heavenly Father please let my blood pressure come down...... I could understand if they were singing the praises of Nazism. If they were singing the Republican or Democrat of the day slogan song or some other special interest or controversial viewpoint/party affiliation/religious rant or song, it would be absolutely acceptable to not allow the use of an American President's memorial to be used for such grandstanding. But, in the name of neutrality, to not allow the singing odf the National Anthem is a grotesque display of just how skewed we have become in our pursuit of stripping our country of it's heritage and ideals. If singing the National Anthem is not neutral, then please tell me just who is the opposing viewpoint that would be put at odds and offended by this spontaneous display of patriotic emotion? Singing this sacred poem, that was penned after a night of fighting off another British incursion onto our sovereignty, is nothing more than a pure act of national pride, an overt emotional testament to the greatness that is our sacred country. There is nothing partisan about our Anthem, there are no special interests that it caters to. It is paying homage to the struggle we have endured, the icon of our National Flag on a morning following a battle for the survival of our Nation and to say it is on one side of neutrality or another is to say the flag itself is an affront in some regard and should not be flown on Govt property. If the National anthem violates NATIONAL MONUMENT doctrine, then wouldn't the flag that flies over these monuments garner the same exclusivity, or the ideals of the very people who are memorialized by the monument? I do believe President Lincoln belonged to a specific and partisan political party. We have a memorial to a President who was most definitely not neutral in his convictions, led our country through a heinous war between the States, but singing our anthem violates neutrality rules? Are we sure we thought this through? This is a blatant violation of our first amendment right. Nowhere else should the rights apply more than on the very ground that pays tribute to those who sacrificed and persevered to guarantee those rights. |

I heard this story on the radio the other day; it really pissed me off big time and I agree with ya completely James. Little by little; Obamanisim and it's socialist/marxists agenda of change and transformation slowly creeps and oooooozes into the cracks that began in this country way back with progressivisim....November folks!! ______________________ It is not something that can be inherited, nor can it be purchased. This is amazingly crazy.I'd be inclined to go with you on this one....say nothing 'till you hear more ! If it is true, someone needs a severe dose of slapsaround the ear, I cannot speak for what happens in the U.S..but somehow I don't think a state employee would prevent people from singing their own anthem, in any country. ______________________ The best arguement against democracy is a five minute conversation with the average voter |

What is wrong with this country when it is OK to protest at a private funeral and not OK to sing the National Anthem on the steps of a National Monument???? ______________________ |

but the pres can step up to the podium and let everyone know the right to practice religion is a constitutional right (funny how he can remember at times) - so the mosque at ground zero should not be objectionable. We need a reality check in this country...again! ______________________ |
