I don't know if it's just wishful thinking, but it seems to me that things might be turning around...slowly.
Seems like there are more people in the stores again spending money and more of the houses that were for sale in our neighborhood are starting to sell.
So are things getting better for anyone here?

I have noticed the tourism in Florida is starting to pick up again. But other then that haven't seen to much of a change. My house is still worth less than I owe on it!!! ______________________

We are starting to see things getting a little better. We sold our house in AZ for my hubby to take a job in WA. Well that fell through, and now we are looking to buy a house again in AZ. The good news for the economy is the house prices are going up a little. The bad news for us is we need to pay a little more. |

You know I thought it was for a bit, now it seams to be getting worse...or maybe just starting to impact people close to me. I have more friends now who are out of work, with no good job opportunities in site. I myself am still working, but it seems like I have no money to spend. |

Not here in Texas, at least not in the oil industry. I live in the Dallas area and had to take a job in Houston at about two thirds of what I made a year ago. Most of my friends who were in the oil industry are now having to take jobs outside the field. I know a few that are washing dishes, or loading trucks just to put food on the table. ______________________ GoFur Don't Matter What You Ride, As Long As You Ride!

Kansas is not see the recovery yet. Housing market still suck, the dollar still not going very far for me. The government is about to put us further and further in the hole.. I keep wait for China to start throughing dirt into the hole to start covering us up. I'm crossing my fingers in hopes that things turn around but I'm not holding my breath. |

I tapped my Homes LOC to buy a newer enclosed trailer at what I figure to be about 6K less than it would have sold for 1 year ago, and paid about half for my newer sand rail than it would have fetched a year ago. I am in the rebar business and we are still slowing down and laying off ppl. Sales are out there if the resources are available. Hell, even large cruiser motorcycles can be had for a sweet, hard to pass up pricing. I predict this winter will suck for a lot more ppl than it does now. |

i worked as a tuck mechanic for years, i saw the volume of trucks on the highway shrink by almost half. and haven't seen it come back up yet. a lot of independant owner/operators have hung it up, shops around here are struggling to keep the doors open. i moved into a different field as a result as well. went from trucks to dirt moving equipment and it is slow, stable for now, but slow, there are some construction projects here that are slowly kicking off so maybe this is the turn around. i doubt it, but maybe ______________________ if you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything. |

Closed my coffeehouse and wholesale coffee roasting company one year ago last week, took 6 months to find a job that had MAJOR (about half the employees) layoffs just before Christmas this year, myself included being the newbie. Maybe my passions and fields are seasonal, or things are just really rough in NC still. Have an appointment on a project in the coffee industry today tho(yes, God's keeping me in coffee). AND I'm dropping off a resume in Service Dept. with Harley-Davidson for when they lift hiring freeze(resume's been requested, and service and customer care are where I REALLY need and want to be). Not jobs per se, but not a bad start to the year, I'm hopeful |
