After that first day, we plan on going to the coast and riding th PCH to Washington, then east Idaho,Montanna,Wyoming,Utah, Colorado, Etc. Has anyonegot any "GOTTA RIDE" routes?

Thanks Rex, we did Eastern Utah in 2007, from Kayente AZ to Jackson, Wy.. Really great riding up the Colorado river from Moab to Dewey bridge.

Well I was going to suggest Highway 49 but I guess Mike already did! Besides 49 I would suggest some highway 1 and 101 both are beautiful.

Thanks debrajo, we are going to catch the 101 around Eureka. What is the weather like in mid June in that area?

When you are riding up the California Coast, you will most likey be on highway 101.  I would be sure to cut over to highway 1 once you get north of the wine country/Santa Rosa area.  You will see some of the most beautiful coast you have ever seen.  And the roads and the small towns along the way are great.

Mom said rules were different for dogs and that I could get an Iron whatever patch after I traveled a total of 10000 miles. This summer my humans presented me with my very own, "Iron Tail" Award... I just love it!

Cold.. when I go up there for the Redwood Run.. which should be part of your ride if you are going to be here in mid June.. actually I would say a must for June.. we would go up there riding and I stopped to find some thermals. It is about 60 to 80 Miles North of where the run is, and it was cold. Last year I talked to some guys down from Oregon and it was raining and pretty cold they were saying. June in that area is not really summer yet.

Are you catching it and going North or South?

if you don't mind doing some winding up through oregon when you get here one of the sites you might want to try and see is, crater lake, i will say in june it will more and likely be very cool and possibly some snow at the top but the roads should be dry to get there. keep us up to date when you get to this neck of the woods and you could possibly have some bikes joining you for parts of your trip. definately sounds like a good one. greg

Grab the coast (101) in Washington and ride up around Crescent Lake thru Pt. Angeles, then you can either grab a ferry from Pt. Townsend to Whidbey, then hook up on Hiway 20 and do the North Cross (hook up on the Cascade Loop) or ride on down Hoods Canal to Kingston and grab a ferry there to Edmonds. Just depends on what ya want...
If you go over Hwy 20, stop in Winthrop at Three Fingered Jacks ~ then you can head on down and around past Grand Coulee (and the Dam) Steamboat Rock, Soap Lake and on out to Hwy 90 ~ head east through Spokane to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and head east!
Sounds like way too much fun ~ Enjoy your ride!
