Anyone here around the Hampton Roads area? (south eastern Virginia)

I don't have a place in mind exactly, but there are a few good places around, if we have a few people, maybe we can grab a short run somplace semi-regular for food, fun & laughs.

What kind of camping facilities are available down that way?

there is a KOA campground nearby (in Virginia Beach)

and First Landing Park on the sea shore

both are pretty decent places to camp - I have done both with the scouts as a leader

there are several others in the area as well

We've been trying to decide on some possible destinations for a weekend camping trip (probably in early september); It's something like 500 miles give or take some depending on route, but it seems like a pretty cool place to hang out, and it's about the right distance we're hoping for. Sound like something we can get together for?

yea - September is usually still pretty good here - either of those campgrounds are pretty close to the "strip" at the ocean front and early Sept there is still things happening there...also some hotels if you want to switch-up for a bed.

So far I am pretty open for Sept, be happy to show you a few places around there.

Sounds great. Right now the plan is to do the first weekend in Sept., and my Uncle, and possibly my Dad would be with my wife and me. We'll be heading out early friday morning, (google maps say that it's about 8 1/2 hours if we run toll roads), which means that we'd be pullin in around maybe 5 - 6 if we pull out around 8 AM. Should still have daylight to set up camp, and then all day Saturday to ride around and see some sights. Planning on finding a biker-friendly church, or at least a casual one on Sunday morning, having lunch, and heading back that afternoon. If you're up for a ride of similar distance before that, we've got a pop-up camper and plenty of parking at our house. It's no ocean-front view, but you're also welcome up here! The ride to Geneva on the Lake is great!

This is an update for the benefit of other members on here... So far, there are three bikes going to Hampton Roads on Sept. 17th 18th and 19th. We will be leaving Warren, Ohio around 8AM Friday morning, and hoping to arrive with some daylight to set up camp. We'll spend Saturday riding and seeing the sights, on Sunday, those who wish to go with us to find a church service to go to can, but it's obviously not required. We'll be headed back Sunday afternoon to Ohio.

We'd like to see as many CF members with us as possible, so if you're interested in joining us, or you have questions, you can post on this forum thread or send BullDog or me a message. Thanks folks, hope to hear from you!

every so often I guess we should push this as a reminder - in case anyone is gonna be around the southeast coast in Sept. - we can have a small scale meet & greet (un-official)
