Well the event is over and I survived - all I can say is where do I sign up for next year? What can I say - it was a real blast and if haven't done it yet - you are missing a great time. I rode down to Maggie Valley for Thunder in The Valley then rode the Cherohala Skyway over to TN then down to Panama City for Thunder on the Beach and now I'm sitting in New Orleans for Bike week before heading back to NE Indiana at the end of this week. Got almost 2000 miles on the bike with another 600 or 700 miles to go before getting back. Only bad weather was from Molibe,AL to Bato Rouge,LA - about 250 miles of downpour but since getting to Baton Rouge have had great weather. Did some riding around the area sightseeing and finding the casinos and am looking foreward to riding the Natchez Trace this coming weekend - will be going to Nashville for a day or two then heading back up I 65 to the home. |

Best laid plans of mice and men or something like that!- I didn't get to run the Natchez Trace to Nashville - the flooding in that area made it almost impossible - so I changed my plans and run up to Memphis and went to Graceland instead. It was a nice trip and seeing Elvis's house was pretty cool also. There were people from several different countrys that made the trip just to see it. Tickets were a little salty and the food was overpriced but just down the road was a couple of places that allowed you to keep a little cash in the wallet so I ate there instead. After that it homeward and nonstop for 8 hours. Everything on the trip was a fun time except for a thunderstorm between Mobile,AL. and Baton Rouge,LA that lasted for almost 2 hours; by the time I got to BR and the hotel I was wet to the bone and ready for some sleep. |
