Lights in general

Just picked my seat up from the upholsterer - Outstanding job, fair price - WooHoo! - Change fluids, lube cables, tighten primary & wait for a rain storm to wash the salt off &  . . .

Which brings up the subject of Lights;
The lights on the Ulysses are marginal for riding in deer country (all my riding).
Put in the best halogen bulbs available & rejiggered the wiring so the LoBeam is on all the time; even stuck a bulb in the Euro running lamp socket = Better - Not Good Enough

Thinking about putting a HID in the LoBeam opening & adding some Auxiliary Running Lamps triggered off the HiBeam

Spent too much time in the Auto Part Store this AM - Asked questions but got no answers.
Questions:
1. Why are the Running Lamps labeled "Off Road Use Only"?
2. How many lumens or watts or something are the Running Lamps? - package has less information than my foot -
    WILL THEY ACTUALLY HELP? - Hate to go to all the effort of fabricating brackets, diddeling w/ the wiring &
    get no help w/ night running.
3. Anybody out there installed a HID? - Bunches of them out there, ranging between expensive & very expensive,
    probably all Chinese made - Are you satisfied?

I HAD HIDs on my C-90 and yes they put out awesome light. My problems were................. Even aimed low, riders in front of me complained about the light in their mirrors and no high beam (unless you go with the more expensive HID lights). I now am running just a halogen bulb that puts out good light. I also have running lights (Suzuki OEM) that are kicked to the outside just a little bit. Really light up the road well. AND some bullet driving lights mounted low on my crash bars for when I'm out on some of the back mountain roads I ride. As far as the "Off Road Only" labels...... I think you will see that statement on a lot of aftermarket items. Just a way to cover the manufactures ass for states that dont allow extra lighting.

Kuryakyn makes a set of lights that mount up front that really light up the road. Check their site, after seeing them on my bud's Suzuki, I want a set!
