suggestions on where to move too

Topics: 20   Posts: 416
I am planing on moving in a year or two and have been thinking of eather the south or southwest. I would like to be someplace where I can ride most of the year. I have lived in Fl., N.M. and Co. and am kind of looking for something new. I love the quiet small towns but also would like to be not to far from a mediun size city. I also like the mountains and deserts. Cali would be nice but I think the cost of living would be to high. I would move to Sturgis S.D. in a heart beat if they dident have such bad winters but that is kind of what i am looking for. I can deal without ridding for a couple of months but this 5 months of down time in Ohio is killing me. Whats your suggestions.   Moose

Sounds like maybe the Carolinas might best suit you.... I have never lived there but that is where I would head!

New Mexico or Arizona is where I'm going when the boys head out on their on. Florida panhandle is nice around Milton or Pace, Fl. Only problem there is the potential of hurricanes but ya can expect mother nature to show her wrath no matter where ya go. Most years the temps in Dec, Jan, and Feb are in the 50-60 range for good riding.

Hey Moose, I have looked into Hot Springs SD. Not too far from Sturgis and milder winters than Deadwood and Sturgis. For a medium size city there is Rapid City.
Go to http://www.rapidcityjournal.com/ and click on the Community Tab then Hot Springs Star.

I have lived here all my adult live, very good choice. I work in Charlotte, but live just outside. This has been an unsually cold winter, but for the most part not to bad. It is the best of both worlds, 3 hours to the mountains & 3 hours to the beach. The economy is pretty stable, those who want to work can.

Best part 3 hours from some of the best riding you can do anywhere!

One day in my future while I'm still young enough to enjoy it, i plan on moving to southern Utah - possibly around the St George area. I've vacationed there a couple of times and the roads and scenery are amazing.

You might want to check it out - the state has just about every kind of terrain and climate you could ever need.

I have been all through Arizona, and it is beautiful, lots of great riding and you can definitely live not far from a decent size city and still be away from the crowd.  It can get really hot in the summer in some areas, but there are lots of areas in the hills that stay really nice all year round.

I agree that here in So Cal you can have it all, but like you said the cost of living is just outragous.

New Mexico also has some great areas and great weather.

Hey Moose! How's it going? Hot Springs is about 225 miles south of me, I have been there, it is a great place to live! If you are looking for warmer weather and fairer winters I would say that would be a nice choice. They have a lot of rallys and the downtown area is very biker friendly, I had so much fun when I was there. Go there next summer and check it out, even if you don't think it will be a good move you will probably have a good time.

Any state w/ a Republican Governor & 2 Republican Senators
Old Navy bud lives in Fayetteville, AR - Lot of retired military there, he likes it a lot. Low taxes, safe streets, neighbors you can rely on.

Yeah, Utah is great also, I like Moab and Monticello.

I just spent a few days in Ashville, NC.  Not bad weather for January.  The riding there would be fantastic.

Hot Springs, AR is awesome. Lived in Little Rock for 18 years and used to go to Hot Springs a lot. The downtown (Bath house Row) is really nice and some good places to eat. Also in Hot Springs are the pony races. Great place to loose some money while having a good time. There is some awesome riding in that area also.

If you decide on Georgia, look me up, know lots of good people and good parties...lots of country roads to ride and out of the way creeks to swim naked...

Ya'll might look at NW. Arkansas / NE. Oklahoma , my place there is 45 minutes from Fayetteville , AR  or  Sallisaw , OK .  Big Big Ralley in Fayetteville every year, nice ride out to Sturgis or down to Daytona Beach.
Year round riding most years. It is however about the middle of Tornado Alley. So far the tornados have by passed me, but I've only had my place for 15 years.
