Life is so fragile.....

Topics: 22   Posts: 1731
My son's girlfriend wanted to go rafting today. It was her Mom's birthday so the family got together and went. They even came by to ask my son Garrett to go with them.

He did not want to go and she got pretty upset with him for not going..

The rafting trip included all the people envolved getting dumped out of the raft in high water and being swept up underneath a tree that was hanging out over the water.. they got really scratched up and even thier lifejackets were pretty beat up when they finally were pulled from where they clung hopelessly to the weak branches.

Life is so fragile, here one minute and anything can happen to you the next to take your life or the life of the people around you..

Never forget to tell the people you love that you love them, and to appreciate!

Life is still good.. whew.. that was really close.

My Friend Debrajo, it's not often people get second chances in those kind of actions....It's heart warming to know how thankful you are for the way it turned out.......I'm glad that was all you had to report......Love ya'll

Yeah, the title there kinda scared me! I am so relieved to see that it was an "eye opener" rather than a complete tragedy! I know how you feel though! My son's lifestyle leads me to be thankful for every moment I spend with him. I know I have to give him into God's care when he leaves my home (or I'd worry myself to death), but when he is with me--every moment is precious!

WOW, Debrajo, Had me worried there for a minute also. Glad to hear this story had a happy ending. I do agree with your statement however. Life is VERY fragile and can be taken from us in the blink of an eye. ONE of many reasons that when I talk to my kids in person or on the phone the last thing they hear their Dad say to them is "I love you". When my wife leaves for work in the morning the last thing she hears me say is "I love you". Make it a point to let those in your life know how you feel...... They just might not be able to hear it again...........

I am so glad it was an eyeopener instead of a tragedy. Yes this is true. Tomorrow is promised to no one, so live today as if it were your last for it may be.

I had to learn early to let go of my son also. He lives a life of travel and adventure that would keep me up every night if I didn't hand him to God a long time ago. He has an adventure company taking people on back country hikes, white water rafting and rock climbing, etc. He travels all over the world and goes to remote places on the planet, no less big cities where there is a lot of crime. He says he gets his sense of adventure or wander lust from me. I know now what I put my parents through when I was younger.

I'm happy to hear Debrajoe everything worked out for the best and all were safe.
I got caught in rapids once a long time ago and had to be plucked out of the water. Bruised up a bit, but luckily that was all. It was a bit scary......
