Some of you may have figgered out by some of my past post that I dont care to much for the cops here in Lorain Ohio. Here is just yet another fine example. On Feb. 8 officer Jack Brown was found to have a blood alchol content of .135 percent while on duty, after officers noticed he smelled like alcohol during a morning meeting. He was initially allowed to go out on patrol, but  the department had second thoughts and called him back to the station where the breath test was done. Officer Brown had drove to work drunk in a police car while having a loaded weapon than went on duty but because NOONE seen seen him drive the prosecutor sead it seems unlikely criminal charges will be brought against him. In Jan. of  09 Brown served a 30 day suspension for being intoxicated while on duty. In Dec. of  08 he had a 3 day suspension for an off duty incident where he was highley intoxicated and yelling racial slurs. IN Nov. of  08 he was arrested for domestic violence and in April of 06 his ex filed a menacing complant against him.  Officer Brown has turned in his resignation.
This is just one more fine example of the quality of officers we have to deal with.

Really hate hearing stories like this. As a FORMER LEO I can assure you this does not occur in ALL departments. I do admit however, there are those out there that give the GOOD Cops a bad name. I try not to judge anyone based on the actions of a few. At the same time, I understand the frustration you and those in your community must feel. Glad he turned in his papers.

Yep, there's rotten apples on every tree; but, not all are. It's a shame those who we count on to uphold a higher standard and then dosen't; gets off with special privliges. It's bad enough the 10% are bad cops but then get treated with kids gloves makes it more untolerable

Not so much that there are dysfunctional LEOs, have known a few all my life, but the institutional support that they now seem to receive.

trust me this is not the only "bad apple" we have here. At one point last year we had 5 cops all in jail at the same time for one thing or another. We even have a cop still on the force today that last summer was given 2 hand guns by an older person to dispose of. Instead of taking them in he throw them down a storm drain. I think he got 3 days off for that. The thing that boggles my mind is that most people that brake the law it is not there first time only the first time they got caught. I am sure the few good ones we have have turned a blind eye to there brothers more than ounce.Our law director was finely ask to step down last summer only after his third dui in less than 2 years. All of his arrests were in other towns. Makes me wonder just how many times he drove drunk here in his town where I am sure he would get spiceal treatment

Well, in my neck of the woods. The Judge has been taken home for years, because he was too drunk to walk, let alone drive home. I would sometimes hear them on the scanner late at nite asking where he lived, because one of the rookies drew the short straw.

So there's bad Firemen, Preachers, Teachers, and American Military Veterans too, what's the point?

Bullmoose and Flatlander, I can relate to both of you, and can see where you both stand. You may never see eye to eye and have a different out look. Dose not mean you can't enjoy the same roads and sights.
