It was a perfect weekend to knock out about 530 miles. Rode through Wrightwood, had Breakfast at the Mojave airport (I just love small airport restaurants, I guess it's just my little thing I like to do.) Followed the Kern River up to Kernville, Very beautiful and hot, should have jumped in the river real quick to cool off, but glad I didn't as we hit snow about 15 minutes after the idea of jumping in the water came to mind. Made a mini snowman, almost hit a cow, stopped to take a picture of him and hearded him off the road to where the rest of his friends were. Took Granite Rd towards Bakersfield (great road by the way, beautiful) Stayed the night in "beautiful" Bakersfield. Took the 99 south to Gorman and then took my favorite road the N2 over to the Rock Inn for breakfast. Took Bouquet Cyn to Little Tajunga (another favorite of mine.) Stopped at Bert's mega Mall, sat on some bikes. Made up my mind on the KLX250 (I've been wanting a dualsport for awhile now.) And slabbed the rest home. |

That is an awesome ride to Kernville. ALMOST in my back yard. ABATE has their yearly ride there every year and it's a blast. ______________________ You should treat every man you encounter with respect, but treating a man with respect and respecting a man are two different things. The first is given, the second must be earned. |

Would have loved to have gone a little further north, but you can only go so far in one weekend. There is always next time. |

Sounds like a great ride. Me & my buddy did a 600 mile ride on May20-22, left from the central coast of CA (Pismo Beach) & headed to Yosemite, up the 41 all the way. Stayed at the indian casino the first night (great food) Rode the park the whole next day, took El Portal down to Mariposa, stayed the night there, then back down to the coast on saturday. Killer veiws, lots of waterfalls, the south fork of the Merced river was flowing great with lots of rafters, looked like fun, I'd like to do that sometime. I'll have to upload my pics & post them. Keep your boots in the wind, ride safe! |

We stayed in Mariposa one day too, not much to do there, but did do the white water rafting. That was tons of fun. And Yosemite was breathtaking. By chance did you take the Coulterville Rd. ( I think thats what it was called.) When we go back, I'm definitely taking that road again. It was a pain in the car having to drive through it knowing how much fun it would be on 2 wheels. |
