The Dallas Police Association Assist the Officer Foundation in 2009 provided financial assistance to 4 Officers families due to death and 67 Officers due to serous life threatening illnesses and catastrophic events totaling over $ 100,000. The Officers were faced with the deaths of spouses and children, illnesses like cancer, stroke, kidney failure and other life threatening illnesses. Officers also faced financial difficulties after motorcycle and auto accidents and house fires that destroyed their homes.
