Disappear and Reappear

  • Winter has never really been kind to me.  We don't get along, the cold and I.  If the temperature drops below 50 I become an incredibly cranky bastard, and this year is significantly worse.  I'm sitting here at work, staring out the window on the freakishly beautiful 70 degree day IN DECEMBER, at my bike.  I'm not on my bike, I'm not working on my bike, I'm staring at it.  On what could easily be the last day of riding weather for months to come.

Then it hits me.  I need ride time, but if I can't get ride time, I need family time.  Not the blood family, but the chosen family.  I need to go put a couple beers away with some leather wearing buddies.  Then I remember.  This is Lexington.  Not a biker bar for miles.  Not a patch holder in sight.  It's like the bikers hibernate for the winter.

Where is everyone?  Where can we get a drink?  I need to talk to some people that smell like the wind.

  • LCStrat Deer hunting takes up a lot of my time this time of year. Like you, the recent warm temps tell me it's time to get the bike out for a spin. In South Arkansas, we get those days in the winter, every now and then.
